You can almost always rely on Victor to give the party line. I have no difficulty calling Steve Sue if he wants me to. Now if he says he is a she and wishes me to use she as the pronoun to describe him, I am less apt to do so. In the end , if one wishes to call Steve, she that is ultimately your business. One does realise however that Steve really thinks he is a she. So if one is being really sincere why not date Sue,share special moments, maybe have kids? 😁 If the rubber will not meet the road, maybe the rubber needs to rethink its position.

What is not often talked about but gaining some traction is the push to avoid any gender classification. In one sense I applaud this as it means the end of diversity politic and corresponding job preferences for sexual distinctions. Maybe they can extend this to race as well 😁? One big sex and people living for today....Imagine!!!! Progressive left bending reality for as long as I can remember..

PS Lets not forget these folks, and other pious nanny state types, have promoted the regulation of pipe tobacco and cigars. Please stay out of my uterus!!! 😁

Qmech... I look at it more as a flexibility.
Why would I bother calling someone something they don't identify as? Just because we always called people by one thing or another in the past? Am I thrilled by the idea of our language morphing? No. But is it going to negatively impact me at all? Nope. And will it possibly positively impact someone else? Appears so?...

Seems like a net win for society to just call people whatever they ask to be called.

colleges and universities that accept federal funding are required to obtain "census data" and try to do so in various forms...an applicant can simply skip those questions, however...

Yeah bgz... Those ones pissed me off at first as well. I hate it when language gets molested like that... But in the end I sort of realized that languages do change... It'll change in other ways as well.

Anybody that identifies as something other than what they were born ...........probably has some serious psychological issues.They're actually quite entertaining.......but for some reason they get quite irritated when you laugh at them,so at least attempt a straight face.

There are psychological issues for the ones that start mutilating themselves (chopping off their d*ck). It's on the same order as people that want their arm amputated because they identify as a paraplegic. I think we had a big discussion on that one before (pretty sure I got ripped on for posting that info up).

Unless you were born as a hermaphrodite or something... then I can see a case for possibly adding a third, but other than that...

Technically, they don't piss me off, I just refuse to remember them because they are bs... unless they were a prospect looking for a 6 figure deal or something, then I might remember it (I would probably have to write it down though)... But that's probably the only exception that would cause me to even attempt to remember it.

I identify as a 22 year old weight lifter, doesn’t mean I still look like one, but I did, once upon a time.........Still, I didn’t and don’t care what anyone identifies as, you be you, and I will be me. And don’t ram any leftist crud down my throat, unless you want right wing propaganda in return, and that’s only because you annoyed me. 😜

This issue is not about a language's natural or organic evolution, which in principle I find understandable. These new notions are pressed upon us today in an organized deliberate fashion. It is hard to deny ,at least with a straight face 😁, that a number of parties are ramping up the pressure promoting agendas with some good, though I believe,short-sighted intentions. At best it can be defined as a gesture of personal care. At worst it can be seen as manipulation, social experimentation, newspeak totalitarianism in action. When it comes to the worst where will it lead? I say read the literature, the opinions on all sides and come to a conclusion. So far in my research I am growing in my concern.
Let's be clear when it comes to personal interaction, I do believe it is up to the person to decide whether he or she is appropriate, out of empathy or ______. . Yet I have a hard time when others try to manipulate or push me into making that decision.

PS Words do have meanings. Words without definition are gibberish. Words represent meaning and are the building blocks of communication. Some words (meanings) are more important than others in their usage, how they shape and form culture/society etc. Words are foundational to the way we think and operate etc. The individual issues on the surface appear to be hardly worth the effort . However they can play into a larger complex motif, narrative that at times I find disconcerting.

I'm with Victor on this one, in that I'd honor an individuals wish to be called whatever they wanted.

The problem is when people get upset if I use the wrong pronoun.
I see someone in transition, I automatically would refer to them by whatever they seem to be. So a dude wearing a dress I would likely say "him".
If I got to know the person and they requested to referred to as "she", then I'd gladly do so.

But don't blame me for not knowing up front.

And yes, I've been chastised for not knowing.
But don't blame me. And don't adopt a name like Chris or Jody. Go for something more obvious to help us out.
