Delta I don’t buy the 400 in a minute period.

That said I’m not trying to argue or disagree. It’s just that I find if you have a 90 percent or more great argument but include a small absurd detail it allows folks that want to to disregard your whole argument.

That’s why I hate it when a couple folks in here agree with me on things. They tend to weaken the argument lol. (Not talking about you or this issue)

I don't have any direct knowledge about AR-15s...I have no desire to own such a weapon...I am satisfied that my two handguns and a 7 shot lever action Winchester rifle from the 19th century would adequately protect my family and me...

I'm merely repeating back what was reported by so-called experts, after the Las Vegas shooting, where the killer was said to have fired up to 400 rpm using bump-stocks. Other articles say a well trained shooter can fire more than two rounds, up to three rounds per second with a professionally modified AR-15...to make a more general point...

I don't think the detail about 400 rpm, or even 100 rpm, is the reason some folks disagree. They don't believe that highly lethal weapons are part of the problem... I could have said 60 rpm and they would've disagreed....

Al,
There's a video of Deuce Stevens firing 10 rounds from a "western style" lever action rifle in 1.57 seconds. That equates to 382 rounds per minute from YOUR lever action. Why do you require such fire power?

Of course I'm being sarcastic, but your "rounds per minute" argument could be used to outlaw 95% of all current firearms.

Jerry Miculek in 1999 fired 10 rounds from a revolver in 1 second. That equates to 600 rounds per minute. He also did 6 rounds, A RELOAD, and 6 more rounds in 2.99 seconds. That means under ideal conditions, he could technically fire 240 rounds a minute from a 6 shot revolver including RELOADS. Oh, and he wasn't wildly spraying, as ALL rounds where ON TARGET.

I'm just trying to show you that the "rounds per minute" argument is a slippery slope that could be used to ban virtually all firearms, even your 2 handguns and lever action. If the AR-15 can be baned due to it's rate of fire, so can every semi-auto rifle/handgun, along with revolvers, lever actions and pump guns.

Bump stocks are already illegal. All this focus on assault rifles is because of one thing. The word assault. Plain and simple. I'd bet real money most people looking for a ban have no idea that they are no different than a hand gun. They all think machine gun and movie guns. The reason most people think this is because of the uninformed or straight up dishonest rhetoric coming from the left and far left. I consider myself a liberal but, I don't recognize the people today who call themselves liberal. A huge reason for this is the culture at Universities and Colleges. The professors and governing bodies have shut down all rational debate. You have supposedly intelligent students who think it's good to stop anyone from speaking if they have a differing opinion. I think we're (well some of us, you guys are old;-p) going to look back at this time in 40 or 50 years and be shocked by just how off the rails the left went. Not saying the right is all there but the left has just gone insane. 😣

The problem Stephen, is that many on the left are no longer liberals, but leftists (i.e. Marxists). We also have our nut cases on the right (i.e. White Supremist). Both extremes practice Fascism in their deeds, as they wish to shut down all opposing opinions, silence debate, and demonize those they oppose as morally inferior or sub-human.

I consider myself a traditional Conservative and belong to the Libertarian Party. From what I've read on these boards, I would consider you, Frank, Spey and some others to be Traditional Liberals. We both have more in common with each other, then we do with the Marxists and the White Supremist. The only way we are going to save this Nation, is for Traditional Liberals, Traditional Conservatives and Centralists to put aside our differences, and band together against the extremes on both sides.

I am far from a gun expert, but those guys are specialists who are highly skilled and work at their craft endlessly to achieve word-class levels...I'm guessing very few people can match that level of expertise...not even close...

but some weapons make an average joe who wants to kill people more deadly...specific guns and magazine clips can double or triple (or worse) the body count, turning a tragedy into a massacre...

I hope that the traditional libs and the traditional cons can get together and find a way to reduce the numbers of people killed by gun violence...I doubt that the majority on either side believes the current circumstances are an acceptable way of life...
