I wish it would decide on whether it's Spring or Fall already..... Temps in the 70's and suddenly it's dropping into the 50's this week. Again. I do prefer it in the 50's though. I hate hot weather and anything over 65 is hot in my book.

Agreed. Perfect over the weekend but not supposed to make it out of the 40s today. Now, enough spending the morning chasing you around the forum. I've got work to get to

Good morning all. Went to the forest preserve to run this morning. Way to crowded, came home and ran in my woods as usual.

I only got 13 sinks with mayo overnight. Widely distributed though, got em in 7 different units in the hospital.

Only had 13 mayo packets in the patient fridge. I tried.

A few units bought iPads for patients to see family on facetime n stuff since there's no visitors. We have one, but our stepdown unit does not.

I got a call from upstairs, they asked if I had an iPad they could borrow. One of our patients was asking for chicken noodle soup and I had none, so I told them I'd trade if they had a can of that in their cabinets (cafeteria is closed after 6pm) They said they had one can. I said deal.

I went downstairs to central supply and procured a box of eye pads. Went upstairs with the iPad tucked into my scrubs and an eye pad in my shirt pocket. There was a can of chicken noodle soup on the desk and I asked "who needed the iPad?" They looked at me like I had two heads. I repeated myself, and said "someone called downstairs and asked to borrow our iPad and I said I'd trade for a can of soup. I see a can of soup here, so who the fuxk needed the iPad?" One girl came forward and said she did. So I handed her the eye pad. She took it but gave no reaction... The joke went WAY over her head... so I gave her the Apple product and left. ZERO laughs were had other than my own.

House supervisor was making rounds later and remarked on my sink o da mayo hits that he noticed. I told him about the eye pads. He took a handful cause he gets a lot of calls from other units looking for them, fully appreciated the effort and said he's going to keep it going while I'm enjoying my week off.

Yeti coolers added nurses to their first responder discount.

Been wanting one for a while, friends at the track insist they're worth the money. But they're a LOT of money... I bought a fridge and a small generator instead, but it struggles to keep up in a non air conditioned enclosed trailer in the summer heat. To be fair, my regular coolers eat up 20lbs of ice per day in that situation too. But I lost a lot of meat last August in Atlanta because the fridge couldn't keep up. I'm hoping a Yeti can keep up. Won't be used for beer and stuff where it gets opened all day, I'm looking for something I can keep meat n stuff in.

20% off and free shipping seemed a reasonable enough deal to go ahead and buy one, so I did.

And this explains why the hospital charged TW $200 for an eyepad after that unfortunate bukkake accident.

I went RTIC, same thing. It works great if you keep it closed. It's not a beer cooler for sure, well it is, but you don't get the benefits. It will last a long time though with minimal openings. I try to keep mine out of the direct sun as well. That helps.

I got a thick walled cooler for my birthday a few years back. I don't recall the brand, I think Igloo but it's in the camper and I'm drunk in the basement and don't wanna check.

It definitely works better than the standard fare. But the hinges ripped out of the back pretty quickly. I filled the holes with epoxy and drilled/tapped new screws which held for one season's use. Repeated the process and still ended up with an unhinged lid. The thick walled cooler held up a good double the time of a regular cheapass cooler, but even when I left it sealed, and covered with mylar, it still ate up a lot of ice in the sun.

I have about a dozen coolers for different uses. Also have 20 blue ice blocks that I use for "dry" ice storage. I feed 20-400 (yes, 4-500 at one annual event) people at our track events, so I need solid cold stores. Nothing I've got has truly impressed me. I just pickup a few big bags of ice from the nearest gas station every morning, drain, and top off.

We'll see if it was worth the money. Lots of guys at the track make it through the weekend on one load of ice, even with beer use. I don't expect that, but would like to get by on leftover ice from topping off the beer cooler.
