“Recently, I was offered the opportunity to receive the Presidential Medal of Freedom, which I was flattered by out of respect for what the honor represents and admiration for prior recipients,” Belichick wrote. “Subsequently, the tragic events of last week occurred and the decision has been made not to move forward with the award.

“Above all, I am an American citizen with great reverence for our nation’s values, freedom and democracy. I know I also represent my family and the New England Patriots team.

“One of the most rewarding things in my professional career took place in 2020 when, through the great leadership within our team, conversations about social justice, equality and human rights moved to the forefront and became actions. Continuing those efforts while remaining true to the people, team and country I love outweigh the benefits of any individual award.”

I’m not a huge fan of his but found this interesting. Not just rejecting the medal which would be hard to do but doing it in a non inflammatory way. Can’t fault him for this.

Kraft bjs, multiple murders while playing, cheating yea not so great. I’ll use this to balance out krafts bj.

After much consideration...cheaters never prosper...
Hence I cannot accept a "Medal of Freedom" which pretty much assumes I coach honestly...which is why my team has been sactioned by the NFL MULTIPLE TIMES...like 7?
Times but they were never proven...we just paid the fines cause we're good guys...

it was interesting to see his local TV interview.

He has known and been friendly with Trump for many years (Bill worked in NY for a while, Trump was a yuuuge part of the failed USFL or WFL or whatever it was when he owned the Generals believing he could force his way into the NFL...HA! ) and I think neatly danced around all of this delicate yet unnecessary end-of-term nonsense.

He spoke of being non-political but more clearly addressed friendship and how it had nothing to do with politics.

Somehow I think he answered questions no one had any right to expect to be addressed.

WTF does a football coach deserve the "medal of freedom" for?

I already have medals and ribbons and they and $5 will get me a cup of coffee. At the end of the day 98.2% of people just don't give a sheit.

(it's more like 99.999%)
