I’m going to be traveling a bit soon and will be carrying my smokes in one of those plastic cases (herfidor?)
The case has one of those little built in green things to soak in distilled water, but wouldn’t that maybe over moisturize the cigars? Is tossing a Boveda in there a better option or does it even matter for 2-3 nights?

Sounds like a Boveda situation to me. Although, for just a couple days, you are fine with nothing. I would probably go with nothing before I went with the green thing. Especially if you stick the whole thing in a ziploc.

I too will be traveling soon. I'll be traveling by air. How do y'all store your cigars for air travel? What I mean is, do you check them or carry them on? Checking them puts them in what I understand to be an unpressurized luggage compartment of the plane. Does the altitude and temporary lack of pressurization and low temperature adversely effect our sticks? Think of that shampoo bottle left in your checked luggage... The flight will be about 6hrs.

Throw a small boveda in there and you'll be fine. But yeah 2-3 days they would be fine with nothing as long as u keep them in a sealed container.

I've never bothered with humidification. Most travel humidors are sealed so I haven't noticed a big change in condition over a week or two. Think of it as a lesser version of dry boxing.

I always carry on, but that's only because I'll need something to smoke if the airline loses my checked bag

Just use a boveda pack, it lays flat and won't hurt your cigars. I use a 65% size 8 (8 gram) boveda pack in the 5 pack herfador and more with the bigger herfadors. The packs last months even opening and closing many times a day. The nice thing about boveda packs is that they can add or remove moisture depending where you are.

I have every size herfador and a couple of the fiver versions. I pack a fiver on the way out every morning and always travel with cigars and have had them in checked bags and carry on, usually both if I'm going long enough to need a checked bag. As long as they're in the herfadors they will remain perfectly safe and undamaged even if it gets banged around. Leave your cutter and lighter home if you're flying. Cutting your cigars before you pack is handy but tricky getting back into the cellophane. Happy trails.

Two things for your traveldor.

1: Boveda 65% packet

2: print a copy of the TSA letter with your cigars.

Also I pack my cutter with my luggage (checked not carry on like my humidor) even though it’s “legal” TSA are morons. And don’t pack a lighter.

two to three days is nothing as far as cigars drying out unless you are in an area with extremely low humidity like 40% or less and let them sit out. No Boveda pack is necessary! I have had many sticks that sit in plastic bags for months and all were perfectly fine. As long as it's airtight they will be great. Same reason why cigars in tubes don't dry out. They carry enough moisture to last.

What do you all use to bring a few smokes around town in?

Does anyone have a good little pouch or soft case that can hold 2-4 cigars, a cutter and a lighter without being too bulky? I don't need "pelican case" or herfador rugged, just something to keep everything together if I toss it in my laptop bag, etc.

I saw some nylon "edc" pouches on Amazon, but I don't think I need Molle or a Punisher velcro patch, lol.
