Two guys walk into a bar, which is strange because you'd think the second guy would have seen it...

Rick,
Prior to Chris' inquery, did you suspect that I was a white supremacist or in any way a true bigot?
I know my viewpoints are consevative, and I also know that I'm quite outspoken on many subjects (even to the point of using stereotypes to make a point), but white supremacy just isn't my gig.
I'm much better than those sheet-wearing cowards...

I don't see how ANYONE could be a white supremacist. I mean, after all, take a look at the continent of Africa and all of the countries therein. They have it all over North America or Europe. They've really got it going it on down there. White supremacists are just jealous.

i never even thought you were, i just asked the same question cwilhelm did and as far as i am concerned you are not.

on to the rodney king beating..

"those cops are hyped up on adrenaline" does not give them the right to vent. and it is bull **** that he was going after the cops. he was trying to crawl away from the beating. the cops lost control of themselves. they are not professional and are not typical police officers.

my contacts with police officers, usually through my business have been perfectly pleasant. i do note after they have been on the force for several years, they tend to be a little reserved, a little less talkative, then they were when they first stated in law enforcement. i would guess that just comes with the people they deal with on the job.

rookie139, your input please.

Rick, the adrenalin rush was not intended to be an excuse for the beating, other than to suggest it was not necessarily a racially motivated beating. There were other factors that most liberals tend to ignore.
Unprofessional? Of course.
But POS King is NOT innocent.
And the fact that I think he should have been beaten more severely is a judgement I make in hindsight. The POS has obviously not learned. And left unchecked, he will definately end up killing somebody. Let's just hope and pray that the "somebody" is himself.

Rick, if they had you out of the car and said "GET DOWN ON THE GROUND!" What would you do? Try to crawl away? Or would you comply? Something tells me that;

1. You would never incense the police to the point where they felt compelled to "restrain you" (me perhaps, but NOT the police).

2. If you look at the beating, they're whaling away on his back and legs. That's what they're trained to do, this is supposed to convince "the alleged perpetrator" that it's best to comply. In Rotney's case, he chose not to comply, he continued to resist. Yes resist. If the cops are telling you get on your stomach and put your hands out, and you're coming to your Knees and not with the intent of pleasuring any of the officers, well then, you're liable to get a beating...

If they were trying to kill him, they would have been beating him in the head...

When that white trucker Denny got his skull caved in with a brick by black guys on a rampage after The Verdict, Maxine Waters said "Boys will be boys," and "They were just caught up in the moment." The left and the media (I'm being redundant)let it slide. No one ever brings it up anymore or accuses the perps of being racist, which of course they are, as is sweet Maxine. Denny was left permanently brain damaged, to the extent that he only had nice things to say about the brutes that ruined his life. They got soft sentences.

Had the liberals responded at all to that brutality, which was also caught on tape but didn't get anthing near equal airtime, it would have been in the form of a law regulating the possession of bricks.

Robby - If your trying to assert that the policemen acted completely within protocol please stop right there. The situation could have been handled much better than it was.

Rick - I agree Lazygardner is rude, and now he won't respond after I stomped his rude posts trying to solicit an angry response from me. He’s only been around for a couple of months; hopefully he’ll either loosen up or leave.

Hey, it is LA and he is a "minority" and therefore gets full protection from the ACLU and anyother do gooder group out there.

New Police chief does not seem to care about all that and I think he will get nailed.

Typical of repeat offenders....Rodney King

LLT - I think the Reginald Denny incident was extremely racist as well!! There are many people who are not color blind when it comes to calling someone else a racist, it's sad because racism comes in MANY varieties!

and maxine waters is narrow minded. if she said that boys will be boys statement, and i believe she would and might have, she is worse then all the rest of the culprits.

Like I said, they're trained to use there sticks if you don't respond... He didn't get any wood shampoo... They were beating his legs, back, and arms. He should have stopped resisting and they would have stopped beating. When cops pull me over, I say "yes sir", "no sir", and "thank you officer"... Of course there was a time or two when I was 18 that I had to outrun them 🙂

Robby...there is a huge difference between resisting arrest and trying to defend yourself against cops going way above the call of duty. I may not agree with what he did, and his reasons for being arrested...but I definitely don't agree with the way he was treated by the police that day...as well as the way the courts treated the police later on. There is no excuse, they abused their right and should rot along with him.

I'll say it again, if a cop pulls you over, gets you out of the car, and tells you "get on the ground NOW and put your hands out in front of you. What would you do? How are the police trained when people do not comply? They are indeed trained to beat the $hit out of you with those clubs (arms, legs, and back) which is exactly what they did... Walk a mile in there shoes. People pull guns and knives on cops, they're underpaid, under apreciated, and never given the benifit of the doubt. If he would have complied, he would not have been beaten, "GAME, SET, MATCH". He "chose" to be beaten. Not a choice I or you would make...

They can force him to the ground and cuff him. Just like you see day in and day out on the news, 'cops shows', and maybe even out your window. Hitting him countless times is totally uncalled for. It's how many men against 1? You mean to tell me beating him senseless is needed for that many officers to gain control of one man? It's common sense.
cwilhelmi

Robby - It's already established that he didn't comply and the cops beat him, the point being made is that these cops went far beyond what was necessary. Yes cops are underpaid and underappreciated, but not all are saints just like not all priests are saints. There was no excuse for the lenghts they went to, none.

Simply stated, he resisted arrest and and was subdued with the training the police officers receive at the academy.

Watch the video VERY closely, He was shot with a tazer and still did not comply. He rushed a police officer and was taken down, He still did not comply to the "stay down" orders. Robby has it right, if you cooperate things go so much smoother.

Do people really think that they should have wrestled him to the ground after he was so blatantly resisting?
At his point the officers had not been able to frisk him to see if he was carrying a weapon. Close contact is not a wise move in cases like these. He could have been armed or disarmed an officer and somebody could have ended up dead.

See if your community offers ride alongs with your local police. If they do sign up, it will be a real eye opener for most people. Honest, upstanding people do not run, resist, or threaten the police. Only the one's who have done something and are desparate not to get caught.

Well I'm done, Thank a police office for all they risk while they are out there on the streets.

Mike
