I'm not a big Dubya fan, but I have to admit, I liked that he did it. Gutsy move considering the threat to airliners in Iraq.

Dubya got guts, and decency. As Rick and some of the other lefties never tire of reminding us, he ain't no Rhodes scholar. We had one of those, with neither guts nor decency.

I can't wait to hear Daschle cry about this one.

Gene, thanks. I saw Rick's post after I'd already entered mine above. I feel about Rick like Mary Matalin feels about Snakehead Carvel. I know he's wrong and ugly, but I love him anyway. ;o)

The credit should not go to Bush, but to his staff. Great bolstering move. Looks like their gearing up for an Election. Don't like the guy much, but I like the moves.

Crass political posturing. I laugh at all this fawning over GWB. Whatever. Expect to see these pictures in political ads in a handful of months. Then you'll know why he really went.

Oh, and now it serves well to distract from the growing incompetence of the whole Iraq mission. Am I to understand this?

"Sure, things are going horribly wrong, with no exit plan, and no real progress toward anything. Sure there is a ton of corruption in the awarding of contracts. And so on. BUT BUSH ATE TURKEY WITH SOME SOLDIERS IN IRAQ!!!"

Please. Give me a break. Worship someone worthy of your energy.

Are you implying Bush/Cheney/Powell are akin to Moe/Larry/Curly? We might agree on that! lol! You are a clown, at best.

But maybe you are right. Maybe we should abolish universities and replace them with job training programs. While we're at it, let's get rid of the arts too. Who needs them, right? It is better that the populace not learn to think, but only to follow.

Hey isn't it great we live in a country were even if your view is totally opposite of the majority you can express it. Even if that view is based on a narrow minded no life experience having life in academia. The act of appearing in a war zone for whatever reason was important to those who are there. Take it how ever you want. He did a good thing.

Yo jdrabinski: Honk ! Honk ! I did not say to abolish universities, however I do say abolish the teaching of philosophy ( what a worthless piece of time consuming crap ). Wasn't it Aristotle who once said " Free hemlock, why make mine a double ". JonR

Intel,

Please inform me how you know exactly what kind of and how much life experience I have.

While you're at it, tell me how your life experience is both superior and qualifies you to make judgments that I cannot.

I'm glad this gesture meant a lot to the soldiers. How will they feel when they come to see they're just props for political ads? You aren't asking that question. They were used and that is shameful.

I look at thing in a different perspective than you. This might come from the harsh realities of life which college did not prepare me for. Your questions while in themselves are not offensive but the manner in which they are presented are. If you have ever risked your life and safety for anything other than yourself I apologize for saying you lived a sheltered professorial existence. If not do not judge the Commander and Chief for his actions and play them off as a stunt or purely a photo op. He went there and made a difference. How about you telling us about something you have done to make a difference other than running your soup cooler about how the President is just using people. You have a right to say what you want alot of people have died for you to have it and alot more will die for you to keep it. How about just saying thank you and letting it go.
