Great essay. Thanks. Leave it to Kinky to finish with my favorite cigar smoker, Ernie Kovacs, creator of the the Nairobi Jazz Quintet (maybe it was quartet, it was a long time ago) and my favorite poet, Percy Dovetonsils. Ernie's wife, Edie Adams, was the TV blond sexpot spokesgirl for Muriel Cigars ("Why don't you pick me up and smoke me sometime." When Ernie traveled, the first thing he packed was two boxes of cigars. They weren't Muriels. They cost him $2 each, a lot of money in the 1950's. Ernie died way too young, a genuine comic genius. Thanks again, JR. (hmmmm. can i use jreddochs initials on this board? hey, Slimboli!)

A funny thing about Churchill, he was such an avid cigar smoker that he had a crew make an oxygen mask for him that would allow for cigar smoking when he was going up in an airplane that didn't have a pressurized cabin and thus required oxygen masks to be worn throughout the flight.

Cereals, didn't have that stuff when I was a kid, first thing in the morning we had to go out and steal fire from another clan to cook our T-Rex steaks. JonR

Rick,I'm old enough to remember that before TV,we used to listen to the Inner Sanctum on radio. We used to turn off the lights and had 2 radios, one at each end of the livingroom. Kind of a precursor to stereo. Man, when I heard the sound of that door opening,I would bury my head under a pillow. To this day, nothing I've seen on the screen can scare me like the radio did. As far as how old I am,see if U can guess. I graduated high school in 1962. X
