I spoke with Jon this morning, he expresses his apologies about the patched cigars and that sometimes it does happen, and not just at DE. He also said he would like to make it up to each of you with a fiver of Undercrowns and a UF+11 t-shirt. I'm adding to this thread mostly out of curiousity as I too had a seemingly patched Undercrown, a robbie from the group buy with Gimbel. Mine had what appeared to be a small patch that I happened to notice, but it smoked fine. I'm not trying to get in on the freebies and will not be sending my address, just wonder if there is a link as to where we purchased the UCs? They did smoke just fine and I've been contemplating purchasing more. Mine also had something that appears to be pitch from the cedar sheet inside the box on several wrappers, something I've never seen before, but I've only been buying boxes for about a year now and given that the wood is a natural product I wasn't really surprised to see pitch oozing from it, maybe this isn't unusual?

I've seen it before and I'm pretty sure I have a box of Padron 6000s that has that problem too. Now, what I'm concerned with is that you stated it was on several wrappers - the UCs come in cello, are you saying it got through the cello to the capa?

I attempted to smoke an AF WOAN today, in Russia, that had a patch the size of my thumb covering two large holes in the middle of the stick. It also oozed tar less than one inch in and was "green" to the point of unsmokable. Should have lit an Undercrown.
