Great video about cities paying to have a sports stadium. Makes most corporate welfare look cheap.

Bucky, you say "tax break" like it's a negative. Breaks are incentives to bring a business in or to keep them there. Foxboro benefits GREATLY from the so called breaks.

If the pats left town they would have to RAISE the tax rate for home owners. Sounds like a good deal for everyone.

I always wonder when people say corporations aren't paying enough taxes... they seem to forget about the 40,000 or so employees they have that are paying taxes...plus the support businesses the corps keep busy.. no corp, no taxes at all.... 😟

The revenue that is supposed to be collected is forgiven or subtracted to a minimal amount. That's revenue the city, county and state lose. That's money that could've been used for other useful things all taxpayers could use besides a toy for multi-millionaires that could afford to build their own monuments of Greed and Ego. Once they build them they price out the average family with seating licences, parking, concessions, and other kickbacks to the politicians looking the other way because they got theirs!

If some POS owner wants to move the team because they're they're having a little 3 year old in a check out lane meltdown gimmie gimmie tantrum....do what sane parents do. DON'T GIVE IN TO THEM! They're already holding a "gun" to your head saying they're going to move...well...MOVE! It'll cost ya!

The sad thing is some politicians just get star struck and mush headed by the presence of a processional sports person team owner. I could better understand their foolish choices if they were getting a kick back.

dmv et al,

So what happens to the Foxboro resident if Kraft moves to Hartford?

Seems like you're letting your anti business bias dictate your response.

I bought a Joes cigar bid last month. Got FREE shipping on my whole order.

Damn that CI and their incentives for the rich...

I'm not "anti-business" at all. I'm against the raping Corporate America is doing to it's taxpayers.

As for your deal with CI...hey if they want to eat it...and pass it along to you for the sake of clearing out a warehouse...go for it. Welcome to the "Perdomo Plan"!

The new Cowboys stadium, which the tax payers got bent over for, is a rip off. I got some company tickets and here is the drill:

The parking voucher was $75. And the lot was about a mile from the front gate – no tram.

Only two kinds of beer; Miller and Miller lite. $9 please.

The stadium has the world larges TV – because most all seats are nose bleed and you can only barely see the players.

But – Jerry Jones is getting even more rich….

Oh yes, if it's such a great deal they shouldn't need public money.

On a (much) smaller scale our local, North Augusta, SC, city government is hell bent on building a river front stadium stadium for a minor league baseball tem, the Augusta Green Jackets. The stadium, hotels and shops are to be built on top of a park/pond/green area located between two expensive neighborhoods. The residents are not too happy and a lot of city tax payers are not happy either. About ten years into the tax free deal the city owned stadium will be obsolete, in one way or another, and the taxpayers will be left holding the bag. It's even stranger because in most other ways the city is pretty well run.

No, no and no again.

The tax rate in Foxboro would go UP dramatically if the Pats left town.

Not an opinion.

The Patriots organization brings in MILLIONS of dollars to the town that they otherwise WOULD NEVER SEE.

So it's EXACTLY like the free shipping.

The tax breaks are an incentive, and one that they are more than happy to offer.

You are griping about an agreement that the town is giddy to make, and fiscally responsible to approve.

SO your're issue is with whom? And for what reason?

You can get SRO tickets called a "party pass" for $35-40. Not sure why. And yes, $9 for a Miller Lite or $4 for water. Highway robbery without weapons. The smart ones are the ones who pay $75 for the parking spot by the street and sell barbecue and beer all day.

But it was cool a couple of years ago to go to the state finals and see my boy on that oversized screen...
