Exception is on Straight Cut Sundays when I use a Xikar Xi3 Redwood that my son gave me for my birthday / Father's Day gift a couple years ago.

V-cut almost always

V cut for torps........punch stays on my key chain......double guillotine for most.

I only used a V-cut a couple times. I punched a ton, but recently preferred guillotine (don't need to worry about tar around the punch hole)...

You can get a better draw on a torp without snipping so much off by using v cut . Also box press less likely to crack when cutting with v.

Agreed on the v cutter. I seem to have less cap unraveling problems on some cigars a v-cut isn't enough. There have been a few v-cuts that I have later made into a guillotine cut because the draw was to light.

the thing about a punching is that its nice to be able to leave the cap on because of flavor BUT, when you punch you cant tell if there may be a stem in the cigar, which could ruin flvor profile...this is why I cut, i look for stems and such..

Agree on the v causing fewer cap issues, but for me it seems to keep the draw how I like it with greater control. If it's too tight, I'll just x it.

I keep a badger in a cage and I poke him with a stick to piss him off and then hold the cigar inside the cage. He bites it perfectly every time. I use a double guillotine away from home.

Colibri cutter bought off here, but I turn the cigar in the cutter to slice the cap off like a can opener opening a can. Never split a cap since.

V cut I've got one nice one that actually works, and about a half dozen that just tear up the cap
Guillotine I've got a regulated depth one that I offer to noobs - has a back plate so you can only snip the cap. Think it wandered off though. Regular guillotine cut probably most of the time. Mostly because I have several decent ones and they're always handy.

snapping turtle in a cage might work good too

I use the V cutter on larger rg cigars because the recessed groove it makes helps to trap the tarry, bitter tasting resin that accumulates while I smoke. The larger thicker cigars seem to produce more of that stuff.

I use a pocket badger as well but when I've left him at homo or in the car I use a v-cutter. Sometimes I'll make two cuts in an X shape.
