Yes, trollboy, I'm sure you are outraged (OUTRAGED!) at the bsa allowing local dens to allow homosexuals in to their troop. It's probably gonna gay up those totally heterosexual experiences you had with your fellow troop members... sharing sleeping bags, shaving each other's sacks, the hot oil massages.

Yep... you're not trying to overcompensate for anything.

Cry...cry...cry!

I like these kind of threads where you get all emotional about homos. It cracks me up! I can tell you're one of those militant types with the beret and all.

FWIW...I could care less about it...you want to play rubby with boys? Knock yourself out. Sob away, it amuses me to see you get all worked up over...nothing!

Ah bloody... you know trollboy can't resist getting OUTRAGED over a gay rights thread.
I think he's afraid that if enough other people do it, he'll go gay too...

He follows me around like a little puppy dog probably saying I'm gay or something (like Wheel on bath-salts) and gets extra short-bussy when there's a gay thread involved.

At some point he'll just shoot himself in the head in a fit of conflicted depression. I can wait.

As an aside, I used both French and Italian sabers (and foils) but my favorite in competition was the Hungarian- light for slashing & easy to thrust.

You want to know what's funny AND sad?

YOU.

Just like Fuzz...you're a square peg in a round hole. How many times have you been banned from here? How many monikers have you had to create? Seriously. Just like him disappearing, you wouldn't be missed. Where's the "originality" in THAT?!

As for calling you gay...I don't have to. You out yourself! With your militant "Us vs. Them" stance towards anything anyone dares post that's somehow slanted against advancing your precious cause. Chick-Fil-A, Georgetown, Boy Scouts, Ellen and JC Penny...where it stops nobody knows. That's the funny part of it all. Yanking the string and watching the puppet dance only in this instance it's cry. Cry puppet cry...for the cause...weep for us...and then mop up the floors when you're done!

I had a reply all typed up earlier, didn't post it before going to lunch (and had a cigar)...then when I got back my PC decided to reboot itself for no reason (2nd time today). Must be that time of month. I swear it must be female and has fits of PcMS.

Anyway, I really have no dog in this hunt. I don't get worked up over boycotts...feel free to search your little heart out and find my inconsistancies. If you find some, so be it. Boycots don't get me worked up regardless of who's crying about them...gay, christian, whatever. I can't think of any at least. People, regardless of beliefs/backgrounds, just seem to get worked up over the pettiest of things and want to make it everyone else's problem. Feelings are going to get hurt, including my own. Get over yourselves.

Anyway, that's only one of a huge number of examples...
Hell, some christian group was trying to boycott the teletubbies because they thought one was gay?

Honestly, I'm with you. I fully support any group's right to not participate/buy/whatever from a group they don't agree with. And I fully support any private group's right to be as exclusive as they want.

I just get irritated by individuals who get butthurt when their group of choice, which they specifically want to be exclusive (due to some bigoted reason) decides not to be. It isn't like this is rocket science... the reason a group chooses to not exclude people is because the more people you include the bigger your market share. Almost every business out there is going to trend towards not being bigoted. Because that means you earn more money (or donations or cookie sales or whatever). Money makes the world go round baby....

First of all, I have never seen that ad (still haven't watched it, but read the text), and I know nothing about the anti-JCP-Ellen controversy. Although I have heard of the milliom mom group, so maybe I just wasn't paying attention.

But more to the point: The million mom protest didn't push for a "company to support an anti-gay agenda".

Taking offense to something that is openly gay is not the same as pushing an anti-gay sentiment.
I don't like people who have extreme body odor. I am offended by their presence. But I don't organize an "anti body odor" campaign.

If the million moms wanted JCP to air a commercial that ridiculed gays, then THAT would fit your claim.

Splitting hairs, but that's why I singled out your comment and didn't argue your entire post.

I understand it's splitting hairs, but I would argue that boycotting a company ONLY because they are employing an openly gay person.... counts as an anti-gay agenda. The commercial wasn't pushing any agenda. Their problem was with the fact JCP employed someone who is openly gay as a spokesman.

If all companies which the Million moms (or the family focus or whatever group) bowed to their boycotts, then it would be essentially impossible for an openly gay "personality" to earn money doing endorsements. I know that seems like a whatever point to those of us who aren't ridiculously rich and have our own shows and whatnot... but it still counts as an anti-gay stance.

You think the BSA changed to accomodate the parents (i.e. the minority i.e. gay/lesbian) who don't want their children involved in a "bigoted" organization? I'm sure the BSA would do just fine if, all of a sudden, every gay/lesbian leader quit the BSA. And if it didn't survive, well, so be it. It's probably better off that way IMO.

I would not have allowed my children to join BSA if they had wanted to. That organization won't get a penny of my money and my kids will not leave our household without knowing we don't tolerate or support hatred and bigotry.

A few years ago, I was on the board of a community service organization. A BSA Troop sought a $500 donation for equipment it was truly in need of. I scuttled any notion of making the donation because BSA chose to discriminate against gays. Damn proud about it too.

Wait, all they do is openly discriminate against gays, lesbians, most 'non-Christians' and help hide child molesters.

Robert and Brew,

While the BSA has a history of discrimination against openly gay men and boys, you two sound as if it's on their agenda.

Truth be told, they probably "discriminate" against swingers and poligamists as well. And anyone else who thinks it's OK to present the subject of sexuality to a group of boys who want to learn about nature and achievement in a controlled environment.

I do believe that the discrimination is on their agenda. I have heard the line of reasoning that “we don’t want our children exposed to people like that”. This gets thrown at teachers too. And it is nothing more than people using their children to push a bigoted agenda.

I don’t believe that BSA teaches sexual orientation. So this should not be any more of an issue than having people of any religion or color in the group.

For all the good they do, their stance has been shining example of what not to do. Moral turpitude it is.
