Just curious....
What is the closest thing to a military sniper rifle that you can legally buy (assuming you can't buy an actual military sniper rifle)?
This is what I used for the 1000 yard comps.

They also came out with a Government/police model that was a little better and was a standard among S.W.A.T snipers as well. You can legally purchase this rifle as a civilian. The trigger was a little wider and a smidge more crisp for trigger control and grip was a tidbit wider as well, again little better control. Both have aluminum barrel beds, floating barrels, the civilian version you can get with a fluted barrel which lightens the weight a little bit and helps with heat distribution. The civilian version will hold its own up against the Police version if in the right hands and knowledge. Both came with adjustable trigger pull if you know how to do it and only required an Allen wrench. Standard pull for the Remington is around 7lbs give or take a few oz. I had mine adjusted down to 1/2 lb pull. Out of the box with adjusted trigger and a muzzle brake added I could get 8" groups at 1k yards. Now this was on a very very good day when I was on my game and conditions was perfect and my SWAG was spot on. At 100 yds 1/4 inch groups all day long. At 400 yds bust clay pigeons all day long sitting on the berm which is 3"wide.
Now with all that said I will say this. You can have the best tack driver on the planet and not able to hit chit at 100 yds. The key is the knowledge knowing wind speeds, humidity, how the gun shoots cold bore vs not and being able to compensate. How a particular load functions in the weapon vs another brand. This is why most all long range shooters reload. You would be amazed if you bought a factory precision round took it apart and measured every thing from the weight of the led, powder grain, size of the brass neck, seating of the led in the casing etc how inaccurate they are when it came to variance from bullet to bullet out of the same box. Any how enough of all this, Happy Hunting Brother nut sack!
