NO, AND they don't even make 'em like that anymore! Those things are electricity hogs, though. My brother was wondering why his electric bill was SO HIGH, a few years ago. I told him that he should try some troubleshooting with unplugging and NOT using a couple of old TV's for a month. He was blown away at how much less the bill was when it came in.

Where we live, this County electric CO-OP is operated under TVA, and we not only have net-metering, but also a system of paying called "PAygo". YOU keep a small amount of money in the account, and add more before it gets to zero, otherwise, your lights will get turned off at 10am, the next morning. You can look at usage on a thirty minute basis, pretty handy! I changed EVERY lightbulb out in this giant sucker to LED a month or so after we bought it. Cheapest house EVER! Lots of insulation, and pretty well made except for the cheap ass windows. During the winter months and spring and fall, I can run this place at 2 bucks and under some days!!! Now that's not counting the gas bill, but it's under a hundred as well!! Little different in the summer, what with a pool, and our terrible hot/humid days. Still can generally keep it around 5-6 bucks a day or less, and since the water heater is in the attic, my gas bills are all under 20 bucks a month.

That had to be a blast! At least for you, LOL.

I remember driving by that building when I had to go over to the Scottsdale PO-PO office for my set of fingerprints.

NO, I didn't get arrested, I had to do that JUST to buy silver and gold coins, etc. for the big Buying group I worked for during the recession. BEST MONEY I ever made!!!

WE usually just set up at the Best Western in Tempe, right beside 202 and "caddy cornered" from the IN and Out burger, as well as across from Town Lake. But we decided to do 3 locations by the time we went back about 6 month later. Seems like I was there three different times while working for them. I could see the dates for the Scottsdale show and that was a NO-NO, but I asked the Big Cheese if it was ok to bring my wife and go to the Grand Canyon after the show was done. He knew he could trust me, so we got to knock off a few bucket list items that I NEVER thought this ole country boy would do or even afford. Sedona is a lovely place to stay as well. We had an schedule, but had no clue where we would be until about a day or so before we flew out. That was to keep another group that had worked for the Big Cheese for a few years and then broke off and started doing the same thing, except they knew his regular schedule and would set-up a week before he got to the larger cities. I have MANY, MANY wild episodes I can tell about that job!!!!

DED, wonder if you remember seeing our BIG 3 page ads in the paper, or even funnier, when we had the infamous "sign wars" with a local jewelry and pawn shop owner that HATED us so badly that he tried to do a show on the other side of the 202. We actually paid a homeless guy to hold a sign and they were having fender benders, etc. It was HOT AS HELL, too! But, still didn't seem as bad as our humidity here, as well as South FL in the worst months. BUT, I was inside, although the Best Western rooms on the side I had to sleep were/are brick and it would be 2-3 am before the damn room would cool down to below 80!!!

I remember those adds. In fact, there was one in the paper this last week. Buying all kinds of collectables from coins to German WW2 gear.

Now I'm pissed that you didn't contact me so we could herf when you were in town.

I'm even MORE pissed that I wasn't into cigars back then! I went ALL over the Country! We were the largest group in North America doing that, but that company close down years ago. Lord only knows who those characters could be, LOL!

Most are hacks and you can get better money at Pawn Shops, especially the one in Vegas that is n they History Channel, OR, they don't know what they're doing and wind up broke pretty quickly!!

I heard they use a big burst of power when first turned on, but much less as they keep running. One TV is on here just about all day along with 2 computers. WE have the 3rd highest electric cost in the country, but my bills are pretty low except for winter with electric heat and hot water.

Not yet. Truthfully, I am nervous about leaving too early, for one thing.

Then there's the fact that the management union is working on getting us a deal similar to the one the other employees just got. Nothing major, but a raise is a raise.

How did the beans come out? I just finished a bowl of beans and ham, still a touch chewy even though I parboiled them and cooked the bejeebers out of them. Danged if that doesn't chap my hide. Not talking

Beans came out perfectly.

Had too much liquid, I put in the amount I always use for refried beans but the instant pot doesn't evaporate (much) so I had to pull off a lot of liquid before mashing.

I expected them to be spicier with 12 giant jalapenos in a pound of beans. It's good tho.

Sorry to hear about your pup, our dogs become family and the older I get the harder it is to see one suffering. Hope they figure this out soon, my friend.

We are in the midst of a frozen **** storm. Slicker than snot and getting worse. By the time we get out of here tonight it's liable to be a bobsled run if the forecasts are accurate. And so far they've been dead on. d'oh!

MAde me check the weather, nothing new for here. We often get some 30+ degree temperature changes in less than 12-24 hours! Just rain, though for now. High of 58 tomorrow and the down to 26 by midnight, most likely.

I have a feeling that we may have the worst of winter still to come!

Took a little more than an hour to get to work with the light snow. Don't think I broke 10mph till I got to the parking lot. Roads aren't bad, but the drivers are.

It is getting flat out ugly here. Lots of ice building up, it's going to be dicey going home at 2230. ISP is going crazy with ditched trucks.

4wd isn't any help on ice, nor does it help stopping either. Folks forget that.

I threw all my arctic kit in the car this morning just in case. All my Wiggy's parka, mukluks, balaclava, mittens, the whole nine yards. I damned sure hope I don't have to use it. The car is front wheel drive and hasn't let me down yet. I figure I'll be all right as long as I can avoid the morons.

But I have water and some chow with me, and I grabbed a bottle of bourbon on the way into work today. So I've got that going for me if nothing else.

I did not think to pack a couple of cigars though. ThumbDown

I will not make that oversight again. ThumpUp

FARK!

My neighbor just called. He was going to get a head start on the driveway and evidently the shear key for the 2nd stage auger has "sheared". SOAMFB!

Well, as my Daddy likes to say, "Sometimes you just have to drop your pants and slide on the ice!"

I'd say that's appropriate right now. After I get home. Holy crap what a day.

Happy Saturday fellas

Why blindfolded Vic? Sounds like adding another layer of danger to an extremely dangerous situation is stupid.

Safe travels gunner. I'm hoping the temps don't fall too quickly here. Got snow, then rain, and now snow again.
