Dang....I hear ya, Victor. I frakked up my left shoulder and upper back yesterday taking 8 cinderblocks downstairs to the basement. My wife had an old four post queen size bed when we met, and the slats under the foundation were messed up, so we had cinderblocks under them to stop the bed from sagging.

Recently got a new king size mattress and adjustable base, and we moved the cinderblocks to the spare room. Figured it was time to move them. Shouldn't have carried as many as I did...

Hope your shoulder feels better soon.

Two days in a row I went to the grocery store.

Two days in a row I took a mini cart instead of the full size.

Two days in a row I kicked the rear wheel/axle cap with my 5th toe, different feet each day. Ripped the nail off one, and bruised the hell outta the other.

Imma just stick to standard grocery carts. Rear axle forward enough to clear my stride.

Eta: I dont ever wear shoes as long as its warm enough to go without. Flip flops at the most, though ill do strap on sandals while hiking and do put on boots to weed whack the ditch - caught my foot with the blade once. Switched to a string head after that, and got my foot twice with that so I just wear shoes doing that.

yeah... can't use the mini carts without smacking something. I think ours it's the axle hitting my shins or something.

I have not been recently due to the Wu-Flu, but EVERY time I go to Costco and push a cart around, I get constant shocks from the cart building up static electricity.

Just got home from the cactus and succulent farm. Amazing place. Beautiful plants with every conceivable variation. Anyhow, it was hot as hell going through the different greenhouse/growing rooms. Must have sweated off five pounds. It's time to jump into the pool to cool down, then eat lunch.

super hungry this morning, so I had some bacon strips, sausage patties and hard boiled eggs for breakfast, with my usual black coffee...trying to avoid too many carbs to keep my blood glucose levels in check...doctor told me to get my A1C back under 7.0 or he'll have to take more drastic measures, besides the Metformin

not sure I want much for lunch now...

told wife and daughter and SIL I was making pastrami sandwiches for lunch, so I'm obligated...

Kids wrapping up day 2 of virtual class... significantly less hiccups today...

Instacart shopper grabbed ribeye instead of ny strip... sigh... not sure life can get worse...

Seriously though, ribeye sucks compared to strip...

used to eat NY strip all the time...then, my wife and I started going out to dinner with her best friend and her hubby, and they always had ribeyes...we now always eat ribeyes, and I'm OK with that...

the marblelized and fat edged crown is more tender and flavorful...

used to be that strips were more expensive (more popular?) than ribeyes...now it is the opposite

I’mma Porterhouse guy myself but almost never see it on sale so “settle” for Ribeye. BigGrin

With the higher fat content, I prefer Ribeye over NY Strip.

Worked in the meat industry for a decent chunk of my career... there are others like me... as Al mentioned, the strip used to be more expensive...

Personally, I don't eat the bigger chunks of fat, so I like being able to cut it away cleanly and easily.... and I tend to like a firmer cut... so the ny is my go to...

But as I said, this ribeye was the best I've ever had... wouldn't hesitate to get another one... but it was twice the cost of Strips...

I'm with Opie.

I worked as a butcher's bitch for about 5 years. Didnt do much processing other than chickens and grinding meat, but at that time (late 90s-early 00s) strip was more $$ than ribeye. Iirc it was almost $2/lb difference, I wanna say strip was $8/lb and ribeye $6/lb. Most people wanted a marbled strip, not a fatty ribeye. customers would have us sort through the stack of ribeyes for the leanest ones.

I'm not a big fan of beef in general, but for example if I'm out at a steakhouse with people, I'll go porterhouse. Which is basically a strip and filet with the bone between. I dont do solid meat chunks often, but prefer the bone in when I do.

I've never had a ribeye, even bone in, that didn't have bits that weren't chewable. I think if you got a super lean ribeye it would be alright.

I guess to each their own, I would take a marbled ribeye any day over a similarly marbled strip. I get the firmness preference though, Opie. Ribeye is definitely not as firm a cut as a strip. I guess I like it more flaccid than turgid.

The ribeye cap is often referred to as the tastiest cut of meat on the cow. My wife (who likes the baked potatoes better than the steak) always asks me why, when we split a ribeye, I take the same end every time. I just shrug and say, I dunno...

I also eat every bite of the steak. Fat, meat, anything else stuck in there. It all goes down the pie hole.

I like beef, but my favorite is chuck steak. I like it better than ribeye, but it seldom goes on sale and it's getting pricey - making me think I'm not alone. Opie sounds like you would like a nice Ruth Chris steak (if they are still around), but I think they require shoes and shirts (and maybe a mask now too).

I forgot who was talking about cold-brew coffee, or if it was in this thread, but the perfect cold brew coffee, I've found, is 1 cup of Gevalia Medium roast ground coffee, to 4 cups of cold water, put it in the fridge for 24 hours, and the results are stellar.

I grilled some bone in ribeyes yesterday for wife, daughter, SIL and his mother...turned out great...perfect medium rare...

only problem..I left the grill on high, to burn off seasonings and pieces of fat that stuck to the grill...wife noticed our remote outdoor thermometer read 104 at 10pm...good thing she did...and of course, I am now suspected of having early onset dementia...otherwise known as Bidentia...

That was me.
May give it a try. I'm still less than thrilled with my current results (8 scoops coffee + ~ 9 cups water)....
It's good at day 4... tolerable at day 3.... But day 1 & 2 is not worthwhile.

Grilled some burgers for dinner. Hand pressed meatballs onto a 700° cast iron plate over a fire. Smash em flat after a minute with a cast iron plate in the coals. Toss some cheese on, let it melt, and scoop em to a plate. Maybe 2 minutes cook time for 4 burgers. No flip.

They were fantastic. Much better than yesterday's project.

Stupid tooth broke into pieces eating my birthday pizza dinner. I was trying to avoid the dentist during the plague but it looks like I will be there tomorrow for another crown.

Wifey (11 years younger than me) was just telling me I better not start falling apart as I got old and BAM, I litterally fell apart.

Hopefully, they can reconstruct it w/o a crown. Dental work sucks. Hope you are insured...
