Good Morning! Got a migraine, thank goodness for Maxualt.

Still no heat, the contractor was burned, the technician replaced it, but the replacement was arcing from too much current draw. The compressor has a dead short. d'oh!

The heat pump is out of service until tomorrow or the next day, depending on getting a new compressor. Good news and bad news, parts are covered by warranty, but not the labor of two technicians and 12 pounds of refrigerant or just over $1,000. A few months ago the lower floor heat pump also sh|t the bed, including part of the wiring harness, F'ing lightening! I figured it hit both units, but one just lasted a little longer. After the first compressor replacement I installed a whole house surge suppressor, now fingers crossed.

Good morning from a slightly chilly, northern Florida day.

Corey...sorry to hear. Good luck and in the end you will probably be better off.

What's up.
Sitting her at the computer store waiting for them to upload all the data from my old hard drive. Piece of crap Dell Inspiron wasn't worth putting a penny into to get it up and running again. Got to go run some errands for produce and stuff, then to Publix for deli meat .

Good luck StePHan.

I had a pterygium removed 12-ish years ago and even though I was conscious, didn't even know the ophthalmologist was working on my eye for about 20 minutes. Took about 15 minutes more but it was quick and relatively painless.

And gee, I've been spelling your name with two "E"s but guess I was wrong...I'm sorry. Anxious

Got the truck back in my garage with the vice grip shifter.

Got the new bracket in the mail today. If I waited for the dealer it'd be another 11 days.

Think Are you sure about that?

I think I'm gonna withhold my opinion until I get solid evidence and see for myself... hopefully not very soon, though. I got fish to catch and stuff.

Met with dog trainer dude. He brought his 8 month old dog to show me what his training methods do. Frickin' dog was amazingly well behaved. Threw his toy, dog didn't move until he was told to... then halfway to the toy the guy yells sit and the dog stops and sits. He totally ignored Tank... who was pulling on the leash to go play despite anything I said to the contrary. $1100 for 3 private dog training lessons and 6 months of group training lessons on Saturday mornings... included in that is a 10' leash (big frickin deal), a shock collar (already have one), and a dog bed (already have one).

Not gonna bite right now. I'll be patient with him and do my best to train him on my own.

Same, but eventually the tired of working on junk was greater than the I don't want to buy 'new" so I dropped 35k on a warrantied used truck.

And now I'm stuck working on it on my dime because the dealer is absolutely useless. Smells like burning coolant and I have no heat. Take it in "everything's within spec, no issues found". But surprisingly the coolant level was higher than when I brought it in. I found a wet spot at a heater hose connection, replaced the plastic clip with a regular ass hose clamp and now I've had reliable heat so far, but still smell coolant in front of the truck after driving... Hopefully it's just residuals and will go away. I suspect there's other dribbling hose connections but it's too cold to look now and my garage is too small.

Dash keeps flashing "4WD Shift in process" as I'm driving. Happens randomly, and looking online it looks like there was a TSB on it for the 1500's and a part number change for a solenoid. Dealer says it doesn't apply to the 2500 and there's nothing wrong. Looking on the forums, eventually it will either shift you into 4wd and stick there or stick out of 4wd. Neither situation I want to get into so I gotta figure out how to replace that solenoid.

Brakes were pretty worn when I bought it. Didn't notice on the short test drive, went back to tell them and they say wear items aren't warrantied. Did rotors and pads x4 myself.

Shift handle breaks off when I try to back out of the garage, they can't get me in for 3 weeks and won't comp a rental car. Also say they can't guarantee it's covered under warranty, "might be broken from abuse". So I fix that chit myself too.

I'm learning there's ZERO benefit to buying new or newish and warranties are worthless and I wasted a TON of money that I don't have. Wouldn't be surprised to find out they void my warranty entirely because I swapped out the factory head unit for an aftermarket.

Had issues with wife's car too, the rear calipers rattle so I took a look at it and the brackets and tensioners are all worn/loose. That's not a wear item. Took it in, they voided warranty because I change the oil myself. Wouldn't do brake mounts because I change the engine oil myself...

If I don't buy a camper this year, I'm getting rid of the truck and going back to driving a true beater. When I bought my Chevy, my uncle was service manager at the largest GM dealership in the area, so things got taken care of. Now that I no longer have a guy on the inside I'm just stuck being the guy myself.

Never again.

Didn't take long to replace the shifter bracket assembly. I was afraid I was going to have to drop the steering column to access all the bolts but I made my own torx head wrench by cutting the tip off a torx screwdriver that had lost its handle and then welding the tip back on at a 90° angle to the shaft and was able to squeeze it in the spaces.

It's a stupid piece of engineering. Cast aluminum piece that holds the shift arm in a compression fit, so once bolted in the cast aluminum is already seeing a tension load and then every time you manipulate it you're shocking this preloaded cast aluminum piece... Plus, it's not a direct linkage, it's electronic. The thing is only actuating an electronic switch for the gear shift position but it's got spring loads to make it feel like it's the real deal. Give me the damn electronic knobby doodad, it's the same thing that's happening under the dash but without the stupid linkage bullchit.

Anyway. I think it was broken long before I got the truck. The shifter was finicky since day one, and now is buttery smooth and precise.

I thought I was the only one, seems no one gives a flying f..k anymore, wheel bearings have a lifetime warranty so my theory is the shop will get tired of replacing them eventually, but a pia for me. Tempted to just do it myself but, paid for it so it kinda of a screw then they’ll fix it or they’ll keep replacing it every three months lol

The surgery wasn't on my eyeball itself. It was on the lids of my right eye. Apparently sleep apnea can affect the muscles and blood vessels around the eyes. It caused the lids of my right eye to start misaligning. I couldn't close my eye properly and it was really affecting my vision. Today's surgery was to realign them and the next is to go in and repair the muscles. It's not really a dangerous procedure. The anesthesia is the riskiest part. The nice lady lied to me... "Just breathe deep, this is just a bit of oxygen to help you relax". Next thing, I'm in a strange room full of women I don't know offering me crackers. I refused the crackers so one of them offered me some Lorna Doones. I proposed to her on the spot. I LOVE shortbread cookies!

I look like I was in a cage fight with a bear. Huge swollen black eye and bloody tears. I'm going to milk this for days. When I got home I told the boy he was going to have to help me bathe. He literally froze for a good 15 seconds before he realized I was kidding. That moment made it all worth it. It's the little things.... Beer
