Same, but eventually the tired of working on junk was greater than the I don't want to buy 'new" so I dropped 35k on a warrantied used truck.
And now I'm stuck working on it on my dime because the dealer is absolutely useless. Smells like burning coolant and I have no heat. Take it in "everything's within spec, no issues found". But surprisingly the coolant level was higher than when I brought it in. I found a wet spot at a heater hose connection, replaced the plastic clip with a regular ass hose clamp and now I've had reliable heat so far, but still smell coolant in front of the truck after driving... Hopefully it's just residuals and will go away. I suspect there's other dribbling hose connections but it's too cold to look now and my garage is too small.
Dash keeps flashing "4WD Shift in process" as I'm driving. Happens randomly, and looking online it looks like there was a TSB on it for the 1500's and a part number change for a solenoid. Dealer says it doesn't apply to the 2500 and there's nothing wrong. Looking on the forums, eventually it will either shift you into 4wd and stick there or stick out of 4wd. Neither situation I want to get into so I gotta figure out how to replace that solenoid.
Brakes were pretty worn when I bought it. Didn't notice on the short test drive, went back to tell them and they say wear items aren't warrantied. Did rotors and pads x4 myself.
Shift handle breaks off when I try to back out of the garage, they can't get me in for 3 weeks and won't comp a rental car. Also say they can't guarantee it's covered under warranty, "might be broken from abuse". So I fix that chit myself too.
I'm learning there's ZERO benefit to buying new or newish and warranties are worthless and I wasted a TON of money that I don't have. Wouldn't be surprised to find out they void my warranty entirely because I swapped out the factory head unit for an aftermarket.
Had issues with wife's car too, the rear calipers rattle so I took a look at it and the brackets and tensioners are all worn/loose. That's not a wear item. Took it in, they voided warranty because I change the oil myself. Wouldn't do brake mounts because I change the engine oil myself...
If I don't buy a camper this year, I'm getting rid of the truck and going back to driving a true beater. When I bought my Chevy, my uncle was service manager at the largest GM dealership in the area, so things got taken care of. Now that I no longer have a guy on the inside I'm just stuck being the guy myself.
Never again.
