Rant on:

Son got bar entrance exam score today. Pretty much same as last time. 87th percentile. Probably won't get him in to Florida, but he thinks that will get him into FSU. He would be a "Triple 'Nole," a tradition there, which could afford him guaranteed scholarship money. He got really, really franked over by the entrance exam crashing on him twice. His only other real option now is to take a year and restudy to be 100% fully prepared for the exam properly, while working and traveling. He would just need to learn to get 6-8 more questions right and he'd be the 92-94th percentile and would be in good shape to get in to Florida. He tells me other kids study for up to a year extra, to boost their scores just enough to get in. That's crazy IMO. I am voting for FSU...

Rant off. Thank you.

In addition to specific preparation, consider tutoring on test taking, it is a particular skill. Have him eat some peppermint candy during the test, I'm not a believer in new wave nonsense, but it works for me.

Whoa! I had that happen with a neighbor's pit bull when we lived in Laguna Nigel, CA. It was a nice neighborhood with lots of kids running around. I told the owner he had to keep the dog under control and if it threatened or injured one of my sons I'd shoot the dog. He told me I had better not harm his dog or else. I told him I would shoot the dog and him too, there is no reason to have an aggressive dog running loose in a neighborhood.

I've had a couple of dogs bite, I was minding my own business and I don't believe in bothering, bugging, teasing etc, animals, but I'll be dammed if I'll ever have it happen again.

I had a case where a client's neighbor's pit bull went off on him on his own property and locked his hand in it's jaw until shot in the head by the police 10-15 minutes later. He lost his pinkie and half of his ring-finger and suffered other damage all on his dominant hand. Horrible, just horrible.

This one time, at band camp:

Years ago I was running down a dirt canal bank when I looked up and saw two med/large dogs headed toward me. One was paying me no attention but the other came right at me with a snarl on his face. Just as he got within a yard of my bare leg he opened his mouth and turned his head to grab my leg. Out of reflex I came down with my fist right between his eyes and all four legs went out in different directions. For a split second he had this puzzled look on his face and then all four legs were furiously scratching the dirt like something from a Roadrunner cartoon as he made a retreat. The other dog just watched him go with a look of WTF just happened.

That could have spiraled out of control quickly. Sounds like it almost did.
I’ve taken a bunch of bumps, cuts, scrapes, punches and belts over the years. Don’t want to add dog bite to the list.
Although there would be an upside taking on a few bites. Could own two houses on the same street!

Thank you, thank you, thank you... mah mutha fuqqin' bruthas...

Got a couple free beers at the local. One from a hot broad and the other from the bartender.

The bartender was just looking for a fat tip... and he got it. The hot broad? I dunno what she was looking for, but she was drinking beers and headed to work at a pub in the neighborhood and she told me to go there.

Of course I ran home like a b*tch... but I did file away her work establishment.

One of my friends might have the balls to go say hello. Anxious

Wow! Several people in this area have been killed by dogs, usually small children. A few years ago a unit cleric in a local hospital was getting into her car fo church when several, four I believe, pit bulls attacked her. She lost an arm and required a ton of stiches, but she survived. Unfortunately, he dog owners were never identified, the dogs were probably used for dog fighting.

Moved some funds from an IRA and a small 401(k) from a previous employer to a Roth IRA. Nothing big, just consolidating. In doing so, I'll be taking on some cap gains. Not much but I'll still have to pay about 2k in taxes (guessing) on the little shuffle.

I'm looking to incur some losses before tax time so I can write them off and let Uncle Sam take the hit... maybe break even tax wise on the little shuffle. So my question is..

Hockey Dude? How much is the buy in for torches and pitchforks? Can you guarantee me around 2k in losses between now and then this tax year?

I'm just a poor college student living off of government cheese and Ramen noodles. Being able to write off abut $2k as a tax burden can hep me buy a crap ton of Ramen noddles, a few cases of Spam, and some spray cheese in a can. All products of these food sources have received the Zombie Apocalypse Certification.

Morning all. 2 weeks of lounging for me doctors orders. My big thrill for today will be a little grocery shopping. Fun times. Though I cannot complain. My heart could have killed me twice now. Waking up this morning was a blessing. Perhaps I will slow down and enjoy the little parts of life more.

Still kicking , I am living with my girlfriend now saving my money up . I am looking for land with a pond on it for the future. The plant I have worked at for the past 23 years is shutting down . I still have a job for 3 to 4 months . They are keeping me around and are taking good care of me. I will receive a very nice bonus if I hang around to help get all the equipment out of the plant. I get a weekly bonus as long as I am at work every day also. It is not hard work either. After this I don't know what I will do . They have asked if I would move to Iowa I don't like the cold so that will not work for me. Got me a new puppy named Rose also and she is an Australian shepherd.

The Dinkadoodle will like that touch. Yelling Wolverines, not digging up a dead guy. Unless he's into that too...it would be a twofer!
