There once was a man from Nantucket
His real name is Frank, but F--- it
His dong is so big
It has it's own wig
Which makes it a problem to tuck it.

That's better...

So my son and his friend got tickets to the Red Hot Chili Peppers show at Fenway this coming Sept.

Grrr... I've never seen the Chili Peppers live but I can't justify $200/seat tickets. It'll be his first real live concert so it will be one for him to remember.

My first live concert in a big venue was KISS in Minneapolis circa late 70's.

I hate ticket prices nowadays. I used to be able to see an entire festival for $25. Now the worst seats for a single show can easily be $100.

Haven't been at a concert in 30 years. No desire to go to one. My wife has never been to a concert and doesn't want to go to one- unless her favorite band would be real close.

In May, her favorite band is playing in Appleton (25 miles away). $162 per ticket. Wtf?

When they came to Hawaii, I never cared to see them but everyone that went, said they put on a fantastic show. Of course that was back in the '70s, at the height of their career.

I remember buying concert tickets for less than $10-12 back in the 80's.

All assignments due by midnight. This term is in the books. Tomorrow is a new day and the start of a new term

New term classes are...
IT-409 Impact of Systems on Orgs:
Information Technology (IT) systems, business requirements, and constraints impact proposed changes to an
organization’s computing environment. Students will analyze current IT systems and the constraints and
opportunities of an organization in order to solve computing problems and determine impacts of systems decisions
on an organization.

Initial response - Blah, sounds like a fluff class. Probably not very technical just another B.S. class.

CYB-210 Computer Networking
Course Description
Learn the basics of computer networking. Examine different network architectures and approaches to network
design. Gain practical experience by performing common network implementation and administration tasks.

Initial response: I already did this stuff before but I guess they need to fill in a check box for required courses.

6 months away from that piece of paper that supposedly says I know what I'm doing. Getting burned out on these stupid fluff classes. I want to learn more on how to hack into some banking system or something so I can be rich overnight... and stuff...

I was rooked into going to a Fleetwood Mac show back in 2003(? ish). I'm not a big fan of them but I don't hate them either. Turned out to be a pretty good show and I learned to appreciate them more since then. I'd go again but I wouldn't pay more than $50 or so. Concert tickets nowadays are stupid expensive.

With that said, I'll cough up the money for my kids to have (maybe) a once in a lifetime experience to see a good band. I'm not gonna pay for it on a routine basis but the Chili Peppers at Fenway Park as your first big show will probably be an experience he'll never forget. I'm jealous that I'm not going.

Remember your first real concert? Remember the decibel levels that made talking to the person next to you impossible? The light show, the crowd intensity? Remember how many days it took for your ears to stop ringing?

I've wasted more money on stupider (is that a word?) $hit.

(voluntarily paying $162 to see Earth Wind and Fire would rank in my top ten of wasting money on stupid $hit... that's like 16 cases of Huber Bock)

Might be a day to buy stuff on the market. Looks like it's going to be a red day on Wall Street.

Might have to go car shopping with a friend. Her car is fine but it's getting to the age where little repairs are starting to pick away at her up like the ball joints, exhaust.... Stuff that typically starts to go with wear and tear.

It's not the best time to be looking for a car but probably she wants to start sniffing around to see whats out there. She doesn't drive much (mostly just around town) and doesn't really want to have a big car payment so lease type thing would probably fit her needs and budget.

I hear you. Guess because wife has never been, and my last concert attended was 1990- the band was so old at that time, it was mockingly subtitled The Steel Wheel(chair) tour. No concert experience remotely comes close. Jagger didn’t stop moving for 2+ hours.

My parents first took us to cheech & chong and I think george carlin as well as music shows in the mid and late 80's, where I smelled "burnt worms". You don't want to know how I knew what burn't worms smelled like... Last concert I paid for was in college. Probably Prince, B-52s or Go-go girls or the like...

Honda Corp. has some killer leases RIGHT NOW- which you are allowed to extend month to month for up to two years any time, which keeps knocking the buy-out cost down, should she eventually decide to buy it out any time after two to five years.

If the car has equity by then, she could also use it for trade-in value on a new one.

PM me and I will explain the full part of it with how Honda Finance specializes right now and how to "game it".

I have done three accord, two crv and a pilot dea like this for family in the last two years. I have had three brand new cars in two years for zero down and my car's equity 90 days ago was $8k! (due to lease cost reductions and trade-ups at the right time and even though it was less than a year old). Civic deals are good for right now and it is, IIRC, like car of the year.

If she's even interested in a Honda... (which I think are the best value for the money).

I took my best girl out for a Sunday spin and breakfast. Wifey went along although she thinks my girl is too loud, fast and smells like gas.

I just finished my morning 4 miler. I have had to cut back from 5 recently as the knee is getting progressively worse. Lots or cracks and pops going on if I step wrong and sometimes it feels like it is trying to dislocate which hurts like hell. Guess it's about time I start researching surgeon. Brick wall

Yeah, I might have done it earlier but docs have told me I would never be able to run again after replacement so I have not been in any hurry as long as I was able to walk with minimal pain. Friends I know have had much more pain than I have before they did the operation. Wifey wants me to get it so I can play Pickle Ball with her again which was what caused my meniscus tears in the first place.

I agree...get it done, and that pain goes away...I've had both of mine totally replaced.

yup...I put up with knee pain for too long...kept running until my knees hurt so much I couldn't sleep...tried walking instead of running, but after a year or so, couldn't walk without pain...couldn't fish, hike, bike, play tennis...

so I got the most damaged knee replaced...surgeon said he'll fix the other one after a couple of years, but not running and not playing tennis has caused the pain to stop in the left knee...

I can walk long distances now, fish, hike, bike...but I really miss tennis, so I occasionally play doubles...

edit: RE: flip flops...I don't like the thong type where you slip the big toe and the second toe around the thingy...I wear sliders instead, and OOFOS makes the lightest, most comfortable and shock absorbent ones around

Similar tennis story but different part of the body.

When I was having pain in my right shoulder, I kept avoiding going to the doctor, afraid of what he might tell me. I was getting older so thought all I needed to do was to warm up better / longer. Once I got things going, could hit my serve and overhead with full force and no ill effects. But, had to ice it down after every session. Gettin' old, that's all.

Then, in a move of utter stupidity, I tore a ligament when I was trying to quasi-show off to my son that I could still touch the basketball backboard. Doctor confirmed the tear and said I could either get it repaired or learn to live with the pain. I opted for the surgery and after a successful procedure and a few months of rehab, my shoulder started to feel MUCH better. I could actually reach up for something with less pain (...still had to break more scar tissue so it wasn't totally painless...) each time. Went back to playing tennis.

A few years later, my left shoulder started giving me problems. I self-diagnosed it as another ligament issue so didn't wait and saw the doctor. MRI showed a partial tear of my labrum (...so much for staying at a Holiday Inn Express...). Got the surgery, did the rehab. Went back to playing tennis.

Then a few years after that, my right shoulder started acting up again. Oh no, not another surgery!?!?

Nope, doc said I had, what he considered, a mild case of arthritis. But, too minor to get surgery. However, it hurt whenever I played tennis so stopped playing. Like you, I really miss tennis but almost all of my friends have stopped playing so don't even have a foursome to play doubles anymore. Officially retired.

What is this "toe thingy" youse guys talk about? Is it like a loop? The only slippers / flip flops I'm aware of just have the toe thong that goes between the big and index toes. Or are we talking the same thing? I guess 'cause I grew up wearing slippers, it's just natural for me.
