Awesome news. Sister played Barry against Stetson. Held her line and was the only person in her class to graduate and do the diploma walk having already passed the bar. Nothing against Stetson...I mean not everyone gets into Harvard. They're not the only player in town.

It is a very, very, good school. I would have liked to have gone there...

Points to ponder:
Did you ever consider if the Weather Girls' "It's Raining Men" and Drowning Pool's "Bodies" is the same story, just told from different perspectives?

*Note* not my work. Heard from my crew who also doesn't claim credit

Woo Hoo!!!

My son was accepted to FIU law school in Miami (a state public school) today and was offered a $45k scholarship (75% off in-state tuition)!

That totally nullifies what the private school (Stetson) has offered ($90k tuition reduction- equivalent to only the full tuition cost of attending a public school). So, he approached the scholarship dean when he met her at an admitted students event Saturday and we are waiting to hear back from her with a revised offer.

And, that was just the first round of everything! We just need to hear from FSU in hopefully just a few more days and then he will have everything in hand to increase the bidding frenzy we have so hoped for.

We are eager to extract as much money as possible out of them, so we are thinking about possibly settling for full tuition and books, but of course we are asking for much more- just to see if we can get it. Now, he's in the driver's seat, so to speak.

Very Proud Father...

(To the two nay-sayers who criticized me for the cost of "over-educating" him with an MBA- HA!!! The $30k he spent to earn his MBA has already paid off by at least $45k- in addition to what he has earned over the last year

wonderful news, Mazel Tov to you all.

Luck is where preparation meets opportunity.

Why you think I spend the day before I go fishing prepping my sh*t? If you are ready, ya ain't got to get ready. :-)

Rather clear skies but kinda windy. Low 60's for a high dropping to low 50's after sun down.

Prolly ride the bike to the circus today. It's prolly a same ol' cluster frank that it was when I left there last night... I can't, for the life of me, understand why the store manager is still employed there.

The guy is a dolt, his management style is horrendous yet the store is one of the most profitable Walmarts in the area not because of him but in spite of him. It's the only game in town for one stop shopping and has very limited competition. They injected some new blood on the assistant store management front (3 new ones in the past 4 months) to try to fix things but time will tell. I'm thinking the store manager will be relieved of duty by the end of the summer and one of the assistant store managers will rise to the occasion.

They asked me if I would like to take one ASM positions for the backroom/inventory management positions... Yeah, Nope... I'm not going to get involved any further than I am now and would prefer to cut my hours back to being a run of the mill WalMart monkey. I'm not going to inherit a franked up situation as I'm only here milk you for free money until I finish my schooling for my new degree.

On a positive note: After today, it's one day closer to that goal.
On a negative note: After today, it's one day closer to being worm food.

Who knows? I might only be hours away from being worm food if I get creamed by a dump truck on the way to Wally World.

I need to replace a bathtub that cracked so, in addition to a few contractors, I had the "Jacuzzi" we-redo-the-bath-in-a-day guy come out this AM. What a total rip off... Even the sales pitch (and it was a rehearsed, concocted pitch) was hard to stomach. I felt like I was being sold a used a car. You know when the car dealer draws the four boxes on the paper to show you pricing, payment, etc.? Well, this was just as bad.

I should just call Danm.

Let me guess. Did he say the deal he was giving you was only good for that day? I got that pitch twice and both times asked the guy to leave.

Haha, not only that, but after telling me how exact and binding their estimate would be, he proceeds to write the quote on a laminated sheet with a dry erase marker... I literally laughed at him and called him out on it.

It's a 60 x42 alcove tub/shower and the guy wanted $18,500.00 to replace the tub and wall panels! I got a quote from an actual contractor to redo the entire bathroom for less.

Total joke.

Possible, but don't think so. The goal all along was to get a part time gig for 15-20 hours. This gets me in that zone. Wife agrees with the pick up and also it can't go beyond the two days. We are aligned.

Mondays now become Mondays and Tuesday being Fridays. Will have to settle for 5 day weekends.

But I WORK EVERY FREAKIN DAY ..

I worked harder now than when I was employed...

Always scrounging in dumpsters for metal, trash picking for metal and RESELLABLEs , trash can diving for unchecked scratch off lottery tickets( not much luck in that lately though)found $5$5$10 yesterday and a $20 today ...
That's chump change, gas and lunch out money is all...can't pay bills with that "take"...I need to find a few $50's or $100's!! Soon ...
