Happy Friday gents. A nice 62/82 on tap so we will hike early in the pines and stop for a breakfast burrito at our favorite food truck on the way home.

Visited with old friends yesterday who moved up here full time from the valley. He just had a heart monitor installed since it was found his ticker was only going about 35 beats. Doing much better now.

Mornin' dudes.

Finally dragged my arse outa bed. Having coffee. Dog already went out to pee so he's back in his bed and doesn't look too concerned about a walk at the moment.

What's up, dudes?

Last kid moved out last weekend. Wife and I are living alone in the house again for the first time in 2.5 yearers. Eerily quiet, but in a very nice way. Skinny dipping. Lots of sex with the bedroom door OPEN too!

No noise or mess. No more $300-400+/week grocery expenses. No longer buying four restaurant meals. No longer paying for my son to shower twice daily for 30 minutes each time, and all his extra laundry and dishes. No more mess around the house.

It's eerily quiet. but we will will get used to it real fast!

Dog walked. 9,000 steps into the day.

Three Mexican tacos with angus beef arriving shortly.

Getting some Oklahoma Heat today. 92 with a heat index of 99.

Cigar in the shade with an alcoholic beverage or two on the docket.

Woke up at 4am because the wife had an early flight to Washington Dulles for a wedding.
I could not go because I’ve got a business trip on Monday.
I go back to bed when she leaves.
Uber cancels on her.
I get out of bed and dressed to drive her to the airport.
We get a new Uber and she heads to airport.
I take an Advil PM and go back to bed at 6am.
I wake back up at 10am.

She gets to the airport and United Airlines cancels her flight. Rebooked for 2:30 later and a middle seat.
That flight leaves 15 minutes late but is on the way to DC.

And the wisdom to know the difference.

So you brought down that box of VHS porn tapes from the attic, popped one into the TV / VHS combo set and turned the volume up? Laugh

Within the time I woke up this morning until now, I've been drafted to help someone move at the end of the month. Ugh...

Older friend moving out of his house into a place nearby that has assisted living. There was a small window of opportunity to get him in and we were able to short cut the waiting list so we had to act quickly. Between now and the end of the month we have to ditch some of his old furniture and buy new stuff for his new place.

It should only take a couple of hours, so they say. Hmmm... we need to rent a U Haul (probably an hour). Drag a bunch of boxes and bedroom stuff from the 2nd floor and load it up (figure 2 hrs). Go pick up the new furniture (figure an hour at minimium), then drag the stuff from the U haul to his new assisted living apartment (figure 2 hrs). Unpack and get his TV, internet and electricity accounts set up (figure a brazillion hours assuming the cable guy is on time).

Not complaining (OK yes I am) but the guy needs to be in a pseudo assisted living situation and we were blessed to get him in. He'll still have freedom to do his daily life and will have better access to resources that he needs. He'll also be closer to his family in the area.

It will be a good move for all involved but getting things set up and eventually settled in can be frustrating.

First world problems.

It's not Karma. It's just being a human being. It's really not an option unless you're a total A-hole.

Wifi password will be one he chooses for something that he can remember and has some relevance. I'll sticky tape it to his router. Not the best practice for security (having a password a on a sticky note on the device) but the risk of someone getting their hands it is minimal.

Roads in rural MA are very snake like (windy). Prolly followed some horse paths from the old days.

Roads in rural WI are pretty straight and flat. When we were there a couple weeks ago my brother gave us one of his cars to use rather than rent one. My son, being a new teen driver, was behind the wheel for most of the driving. A good practice driving since there is little traffic on the back roads. Even I-41 is child's play compared to the cluster frank out here in MA.

In his words, driving in WI is boring.. too flat and too straight. Meanwhile he's doing air guitar with the steering wheel singing and jamming out to Metallica on CD.

Guard rails detract from the natural beauty of the burnt mountainsides.

Well, if they could time it right.. the cremation of the bodies that slipped off the cliffs could coincide with the various wildfires. Food (fuel) for thought.

Just gonna leave that there... in case you decide to promote pancakes and denigrate waffles. We know you like 'em... it's okay, they're better than pancakes.

Waffle House in J-ville outnumbers Ihop by a damn large margin. BigGrin It's like... I left socialism... found freedom... and waffles... lots of waffles.

Quantity doesn't count here. Waffle House is at it's peak appeal about 2am. Quality falls off drastically the more sober you are.

*Note* I'm not saying that chit ain't good. It just ain't good
