This nascar Chicago street race is hilarious. It's like watching a video game race replay. So much carnage in first 3 laps already.

Freak!

Morning gents. It's that time of year when the plagues are in full swing here. Saturday the tree monkeys finally came and trimmed my neighbor's 25 ft palm that has been dropping seeds by the millions in my pool for the last month. Now the 2nd plague has started in earnest. The large mesquite in the front started dropping its seed pods right on time and will continue for the next month. Can't rake of blow them up very effectively so we pick them up by hand. Other than that and a much larger hatch of grasshoppers this spring that are eating everything in the garden .... did I mention it's 86/111 today?

Picture postcard here this morning. Dog walk was a 65 degree affair. Low humidity and. 3 or 4 mph breeze. The plagues here are all but in remission. The Six Oak Plagues are done. They are now provided wonderful cover, assisting in a 30 minute nap. The Cottonwood Plague is over.

Only annoyances now is needing to get back on the roof and blow the remnants of that final oak plague. Must have more birds, or maybe their strategic chit bombing has been more precise. Got hit on the shoulder yesterday afternoon. Kuba’s dog bed just got bombed.

Dog walked, miles run, then made some preps. Smoker is ready to go and picked up a few items in the grocery store.

It's hotter than a half-f***ed fox in a forest fire.

Been calling for PM thunderstorms for days and I think they may have arrived. Tank was barking and whining and I was wondering why... he can hear it before me, apparently, because now I hear the thunder.

My last dog could also tell when the T-storms were coming before they actually arrived. Sometimes I could tell ahead of time when there was that strange calm before the storm feeling outside. Even if that didn't happen, he'd get nervous, start panting, and follow me around the house at my heels about 30-45 minutes before the storm got here. Never thought it was based on better hearing but more so that he could feel a change in the barometric pressure.

Finally getting a break in the clouds this afternoon and got some sunshine but the weather folks are still calling for some storms tonight. That will put a damper on any fireworks the surrounding towns were planning. The smaller towns around here usually do them a day or two before the 4th so they don't interfere or compete against the the larger towns that do then on the night of the 4th.

I'm sure people in town will still do their backyard shows tonight and tomorrow. Even though personal fireworks are illegal here in MA, they are legal in NH which is only like 15 min north. Happens every year and the town cops won't hassle you unless you are over the top, too stupid/crazy or the neighbors complain.

Happy early 4th to all. Have fun and be safe.

Hopefully, they’ll keep waiting until late afternoon/early evening or later to arrive. Better yet, they can keep their arse away Thursday.

Wind looks to be 9mph. Hopefully the waves are small enough and the T-storms come late. Charter is 0800-1600, so as long as they wait until 2pm... we'll be headed back by then. Beer

They will text you the day before by 3-5pm to let you know if the trip is a go or canceled.

I'm thirsty too. Sweet iced tea with a squeeze of lemon. Yummy.

Not sure we'll be sparking up the grill tomorrow. It's dependent on the weather. If it works out it will just be easy stuff like burgers, hot dogs, chicken breast, maybe some Italian sausages (onions and peppers are a must).

My appt/condo rental thingy is up for a new lease at the end of August. Been here for about 3 or 4 yrs. I like the place. I like the location. I like the management company that runs it and everything tied to it. Building manager wanted to up the rent a couple hundred buck and have me lock into a 2 yr lease. I negotiated with her and copied the investment company that holds the place.

Since I'm a known commodity with a solid history, we ended up (kinda) keeping the the lease the same as before. The monthly price was upped by about $100 due to the increase price for energy (A/C and heat is included in rent). I'm fine with that and we met half way. One of my pushes was my ability to opt out of if I choose to move on to somewhere else without financial penalty. They agreed to that but I need to give them 60 days notice before it happens. I don't see it happening anytime soon but it's good to have that option if needed.

The fishing is good here, yeah... Southern California weather is unbeatable. But then you have to put up with taxes, gas prices, traffic, homeless camps, theft, and they're trying to pass a law now that makes it illegal for store security to stop thieves.

WHAT?! You can steal up to $950 and just get a ticket, but the security can't stop you?

No wonder stores are leaving CA. More will follow, mark my words.

Who's left in CA? Can Delta steal $950 of stuff for each one of us? If so all we have to do is just pay for the ticket they give him and the shipping costs for him to send the goods out.

It could be a side gig.

Oh, it gets better... if you don't pay the ticket they'll issue a misdemeanor warrant for your arrest. BUT - you have to have 15 misdemeanor warrants racked up before they'll hold you to face a judge.

Actually, they don’t call Louisiana The Sportsman’s Paradise for nothing. Florida has some great bass lakes. But, Louisiana beats Florida and pretty much any other state when it comes to salt water fishing. We have the healthiest costal specked trout and redfish fisheries of any state. Combine that with the number of offshore oil platforms and the offshore salt dome lumps and you’ll find that sportsman anglers harvest more fish in and around Louisiana than any other state.

Fishing should be outlawed because it is not something that I personally engage in.
Besides, killing anything is morally wrong. Unless we’re talking about hope.

Up at 0400. Not for any particular reason, just because the dog got up to do his bidness at 0330 and I couldn't get back to sleep... so I prepped the brisket, Texas style (Kosher salt and pepper) and it's sitting on the kitchen counter wrapped in foil.

I'll get the smoker going after the dog walk.

Coffee now.

Pretty much woke up about the same time. East bound and down. ETA says 14:47, but I’ll have to make one fuel stop. Hopefully, I can coordinate any deposit I need to make with said stop.

Looks like ETA is based on Central time. Actual may really be 15:47 plus stop(s). Then again I’m not actually running the posted speed limit so who knows.

Good Happy Birthday USA Tuesday Morning to All! It's a clear 81° on the way to 92° today. One good thing about the current humidity level of 72%, it reduces the fire hazard from tonights festivities.
