Morning Ram and yous dudes. A cool 54/75 here today. Newberg street fair yesterday and visited two wineries. Waiting for a little daylight to get in our morning walk.

One slight delay on the flight yesterday we were taxied to head of the runway and the captain 👩‍✈️ came on and said we had to return to the terminal due to a maintenance issue. Added about one hour to the flight.

Doing my first try on beef Dino ribs today. Prepped 4 bones this morning and put them on at 1115. It should be about a 6 hour smoke at 250. I used course ground pepper, course kosher salt and a little Montreal steak seasoning. Also, used a mix of pecan and oak chunks for the smoke.

I am blessed that they do find time to hang out with the old man but (selfishly) I would like to spend more time with them. They friggin' grow up too fast and I'm getting premature empty nest feelings.

No matter if it's your kids, your friends or family members, cherish your time with them. Before you realize it, things can change right before your eyes.

I think it was 8 track that posted a comment in another thread that I will never forget. "The days are long but the years are short. Enjoy every moment."

have patience Bucky...when they both have kids of their own, you'll see them more often...until that time, look for dates on the calendar when it would feel natural to gather...

plan outings together...luckily, both of my kids enjoy spending time in the Sierras, hiking, fishing and hanging out...they both enjoy going to auto races, sporting events, wine tasting, etc...

That's where the weather updates come into play.

Morning, all. It's feeling like it should be later in the week already. Oh man, I think the clock is slow.

The cook took seven hours and the wife stated that we would be doing this again. Guess she was happy with the finished product.

Tuesday morning folks. A cool 54/76 here. Driving around central Oregon small towns and a couple more wineries on the menu for today.

Tip for today: If you decide to try a place called Odd Moe’s Pizza…… don’t!

Trying some "fresh cooked" dog food for the first time. Lately I have been mixing a cup of kibble and a cup of the Fresh Pet for Tank and he seems to like it.

The Fresh Pet is around $26 a bag plus tax and it's a small bag... so I got some chicken thighs, beef liver, green beans, sweet potatoes, and a bag of mixed brocolli/cauliflower/carrots. Threw that all in the crock pot to make about the same amount of food (maybe more) for about $15 total.

Dumplings, bought so from Costco, Chinese style, little half circles. Pretty good and their dipping sauce is pretty good too, even out of a plastic envelope. You're supposed to put them in a pan with a little bit of oil and some water, bring the water to a boil, then cover, reduce heat, and let them steam for about seven minutes. Quite tasty, but I decided to improve them.

In the pan I replaced the oil with a dollop of bacon fat and used half water and half *Tsuyu no moto, a Concentrated soup base. I brown them a little before adding the water mix, bring to a boil before covering to let them steam. They are really good.

* Asian market or Amazon: https://www.ninben.jp/products/tsuyu-no-moto/

This is the ingredient I used to make noodles and left over rice taste great.

We made it to the coast for a few hours today and visited the Otopus tree that Drafter suggested. Really interesting. Visit to the Tillamook cheese factory was a waste. No free cheese and the place was like a cheesy version of Disneyland. Ruined!

Onto Raptor Ridge our favorite Pinot Noir winery.

Interesting. Think

We usually just use water with a little oil then drain off the liquid and fry up the bottom till it gets a little crispy. But, always willing to try something new. The dipping sauce we use is usually one specifically for gyoza / dumplings.

Top o' the mornin' dudes. Need coffee...

Tank absolutely devoured the dog food I made. Mixed one cup of it with 1 cup of his kibble. Inhaled it.

86F on the way to only 89F. Presently 79% RH. 60% chance of rain, which is normal for this time of year. Clouds and afternoon thunderstorms into the evening.

Got to help my niece write an appeal for the loss of her academic scholarship due to poor grades her freshman college year. Not Fun. Got to get it done, nevertheless. $40k at stake. I think we will prevail based.

Going to Walgreens after that to print up a chit-ton of photos for a legal claim.

Then, swim and pick my wife up from work. Perhaps only 1.5 more weeks until we are told she can drive and my portion of her surgical saga will be over (after two months).

Flying daughter in from Detroit for a long weekend. Applause
