yup...and the cost...my wife will do most of the work to get the house decorated and dining area ready for the large group. Since it'll be a warm day (90's), we'll have a pool party before dinner...I have to clean the pool...
...luckily my grown kids have volunteered to help with the cooking...SIL's parents decided not to host Thanksgiving at their house this year...SIL's father is under-going cancer treatment, so we invited them and his brother's family to join us for Thanksgiving dinner...size of the crowd doubled, from 12 to 24...
went shopping yesterday to gather up all the stuff I'll need to make the turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy. Had to buy extra turkey thighs because most of the family prefers dark meat. SIL's mother will come over early to make her stuffing casserole, and she'll bring the stuff for it. She wants the liver and gizzard and neck meat from the turkey, though, so I'll just boil them to make the broth for the gravy and give the meat to her for the stuffing. I usually chop that up and put it in the gravy...She also asked me to get a larger turkey, so that she can have left-overs to take home. I usually make a casserole or a soup with the left overs...sigh...
Son will make sweet potatoes and green beans. He said that I shouldn't bother making the cranberry sauce, since hardly anyone but him, his wife and I like it. He said the canned cranberry sauce would be easier, less messy, and prolly more popular. OK with me...
Not sure what my daughter will bring besides biscuits or dinner rolls. Maybe I'll ask her to get a large pumpkin pie and some whipping cream.
All in all, we are blessed...Happy Thanksgiving everybody!!!
