The river south of me didn't break its record until 2 days after the rains died down. Sandbags and berms were overtaken with clear skies.
Humm could be but the only body of water near me is the Mississippi River and its about 40 minutes out.
I just took a look at the river and that is where the flooding is taking place. On March 1, water volumes for the river in Memphis are 1.3 million cubic feet per second; that's enough water to fill Bass Pro Shops Pyramid in about 30 seconds.
The Army Corps of Engineers said areas protected by levees are probably going to be OK. We will see. Boy I would hate to live out on Mud Island right now.
