Well that sucks.
My favorite times at work have been spent not working.
Many years ago we would usually shut down our unit during holidays. No heart surgeries, no patients, no need for staff. But had to have a team ready just in case. The team leader had to be onsite. So, you pulled up a recliner, plugged the census board TV to your laptop, and got paid overtime to sleep and watch movies.
They got rid of those perks. Now if we shut down you just have to work elsewhere in the hospital or stay home unpaid.
