Seeing as how one nation wanted to hide away any scintilla of a pandemic and the others are pissed because the US is doing something about it...kind of invalidates any data you wanted to share from them.

Thanks, but no thanks.

MACS this is important and you clearly don’t understand it. Maybe I’m too immersed in it but your message includes misinformation and no I wasn’t just let it go. I didn’t say you suggested not disinfecting stuff but you gave information that shows your lack of understanding but continued attempts to weigh, correct things or act smart about this. Your post was simply giving the wrong message.

Reread this thread. You clearly don’t understand this and no YouTube video will get you there. It’s ok. You can’t be an expert in everything. I’d not try giving you advice on how the California corrections system works or sea fishing.

But your grasp of this is limited and you are all over the place. It’s nothing personal. Get a coat. But this is too important for the usual nonsense.

If I don’t respond to your inevitable next message I will later. I hav e 2 minutes to get to another meeting on an ongoing crisis.

Washing hands and surface disinfection is critical. I don’t know where any legitimate information minimizing this is coming from. It’s why you should try not to touch your face. Public distancing is important as well. Spey you hit it pretty spot on

Careful where you get your info.

Michael Osterholm for one disagrees with you... Important? Sure... Is it gonna help stop the spread? According to many sources, no... This virus is spread primarily through breathing...

Not sure of all your sources and I guess we will have to disagree (not about the breathing part) as well as disagree with the CDC and WHO at the moment. Listening to dr Fauchi I’m not sure how anyone could know that even if it were true. It’s irresponsible to spread that message at this point.

On the call I am on right now part of the discussion is on transferring accepted sanitizing processes in hospitals and nursing homes to public places like restaurants as a front line defense to be combined with social distancing etc.

Can you at least concede that if in fact a particular virus is spread primarily through breathing, then all the handwashing and surface cleansing in the world will not stop its spread?

The data on SARS and MERS are fairly clear on the method in which corona virus is typically spread...

^ I’m aware of that. Worked on both in one way or another. That doesn’t answer my q but I can go look.

No argument on breathing. And no one thing will stop it. It has to be a multifaceted attack in which sanitation has a major role. I can’t imagine Osterholm disagreeing with that. I haven’t read or heard it so I’ll take your word for it. I can’t help but think it’s being misinterpreted or extrapolated further than he meant.

I actually was reading a report that it's droplet based. Not aerosol.

But regardless, the cleansing portion stops it from getting a foothold, because you can still transmit it that way.

No offense, tee... but however he's drawing his conclusions I am more apt to believe him due to his extensive knowledge and background in infectious diseases. YMMV

I am not claiming to be an expert. I am all over the place, or at least I was until I listened to what Osterholm had to say.

And while I have a respectable grasp of ocean fishing... I'm no expert there, either. In fact, I am decent... with a hell of a lot to learn and a willingness to do so!

You have more expertise than me on ocean fishing and I’d never watch a YouTube video on the subject and think it’s changes that fact. You didn’t go from all over the place to grounded by one video. But you do have more info and better info and deserve respect for that.

I honestly think his message must be misinterpreted, taken too far from his context or he didn’t communicate it well but I’ve not watched it yet so am talking out my butt. And things are changing every day. A week ago seems like an eternity. I am tired of this stuff. It’s consuming my world lol.

Have fun guys. Back later.

I don't know if it has been mentioned here or elsewhere yet, but have you guys seen what China is saying about the origin? They are saying that American soldiers brought the virus over when they were in Wuhan in October. Wouldn't that be a trip? To think that it could have been in the US all this time is crazy. God only knows what the truth is though. Just found it entertaining.

1) clean out your inbox...

2) thoughts on my kids (5 and 6) visiting my parents (66 and 69 but in good health)?

Trying to keep my folks quarantined as much as possible but they get antsy... Figured a visit from the grandkids would do them good but I'm foggy on their roll in this virus...

From what we know, does it look like they aren't contracting it or they are contracting it but asymptomatic like little typhoid Mary's?

It’s almost as if some government experts have been in constant conversations with public and private experts and providers putting an approach together :)

And it is a good thing. No guarantees though. Fasten you’re seatbelts.

I’ll clean out the inbox and listen to the whole video in a bit. I have yet another meeting first. My last one was postponed to listen to the president and the familiar faces behind him.

Oh sorry opel. The thing is nothing is certain. That’s the primary issue with most of the speculation right or wrong. The thought at the moment is asymptomatic Typhoid Mary. But truly we have much to learn.

As for being taken serious by the likes of anyone like you...OMG...how will I sleep at night worrying about what you all think...hold that thought...smile some more...maybe blink and breathe too! In and out. That's important.

From the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry. That's a lot of money out the door right there. That place is always packed.

Quote:
When times are uncertain, science is more vital than ever. Like you, we are concerned about protecting health and safety during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

That’s why the Museum will temporarily close starting Saturday, March 14 through Monday, April 6 to help contain the spread of COVID-19. All events and programming during this period are being cancelled. If you have Museum tickets for a visit during the closure, you will be refunded automatically. Please allow up to five business days for your card to be credited.

We plan to reopen on Tuesday, April 7 but will continually evaluate the situation, taking into account guidance from the Chicago Department of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control. For ongoing updates on Museum status, please visit the link below.

Take care of yourselves, your communities and your information intake—make sure you’re following verified sources to help separate findings from feelings. As we all work to contain this outbreak, the Museum extends its special appreciation to those in health care, medicine, research and other fields bravely leading the frontline response.

We take these steps now to protect the health and safety of the Museum’s guests, staff and volunteers, so that we may more quickly welcome you back to MSI.

Maybe so... but if all these things actually work and the spread is mitigated by it... good.

The quicker it's over, the happier we'll all be.
