No muss, no fuss... and I ain't fkn with a seat, or fabricating sh-t.
Even if I had a higher trim level, I'd be putting in my own system.
Factory may sound great, and surprisingly I'm not disappointed with my tradesman trim factory stereo. It's got 3.5's in the dash, 6x9's in the doors. Doesn't rattle the ground, but it does ok for what it is. I like to build systems that require earplugs at half volume, something I can broadcast a concert from. My Chevy we used at a trackday for nighttime movie. Projector onto a garage door, 3.5aux cable to my truck with the doors open and windows down. Worked well.
I'm going to do 6.5" components in the front doors with the tweeters taking up the 3.5" dash spots, and probably just an upgraded 6x9 in the rear. I don't care as much about rear stage as much as front. In my Chevy I had a 2 channel amp for the fronts, I'm going straight off the head unit this time around. Bought a high powered head unit, it's 45w rms 100w max x 4. Simplifies a lot of issues. But depending on the gauge of the factory wiring, I may still have to run wires for the speakers, which is a huge pain but necessary if pushing that much wattage.
Got 2 JL Audio 10TW3 subwoofers to go under the rear seats. There's a non removable storage bucket under the rear bench. Gonna cast the box into there with a 3/4" MDF cap. The super shallow subs will let me keep them well under the seat.
This is looking more like a summer project and not a now project since it's a huge hassle to fit the truck in my garage. Might toss the head unit in, but that's it.
