Wife wants all the paint stripped off the front porch. Not a huge job, it's just an angled 4x4 with a couple horizontal pieces that supports the roof overhang over the 5x5 concrete pad.

Been at it for a few days with chemical strippers and scraping but there's gotta be 10+ layers on there. So today hitting it with power tools. Scotchbrite pad thingy on an angle grinder followed by orbital sanding disks.

Was trying to avoid the big tools so I don't gouge the wood n stuff but I'll just have to sand it out.

Only took 2 hours. Had to shower when it was all done. First coat was probably when it was built in the late 40s, so figured somewhere in there was lead paint.

Dug up the garden too. Carrots n onions can stay a little longer but the rest of the plants were done. Habaneros did not do well this year. Usually have a ton of peppers, but only had 3 this year. Chickens loving the collard greens. I'd harvested them 3x already, and still had massive bushes. Didn't feel like making another batch so just gave an to the birds

I've had them and grasshoppers both. Korea.

I liked the grasshoppers, they were crispy and salty. They tasted like those sesame snack sticks. I had no idea what they were until I hit the bottom of the bowl and saw the legs. The Koreans I was with didn't know the English word. Oh well, they went great with the OB and Soju we were drinking.

Yep. After balut, and I had a 1000 year egg in Hong Kong since I didn't learn my lesson in PI, there isn't much that will put me off now. LOL.

Can't stand food where you leave the bones in. It just bugs me. The sardines you eat whole... soft-shell crab... I'll eat it... but I don't particularly like the idea.

On these two things we can whole-heartedly agree, Victor. My wife cooks a lot of dishes that are very tasty, but I do not partake due to the bones issue. Her fish sinigang is good. But it has fish bones in it, and that's a put off for me. When I sit to eat, I want to shovel and chew... I don't want to be picking sh*t out of my teeth.

When I eat crab or lobster, which I absolutely love... I will get all the work done, first. Then I'll eat.

Tuna fish head soup broth is frickin' amazing... and I'll eat it with rice, but ya damn sure know I'm putting the rice on my plate, covering it with the broth, and adding chunks of (no bones) fish meat before I sit to eat.

True story... My wife makes chicken adobo while my pops is visiting... she brings me a plate, shredded chicken mixed with rice and broth already. She hands my dad a plate with broth covered rice and a chicken leg and thigh. Dad looks at his plate, then looks at mine and says... "Jesus, kid... you got her trained".

I'm not quite that bad MACS... I don't mind meat on a bone that we cut off... Or take out of a shell ... Like I'll do a number on chicken thighs or bone in breast... Or even quail...

But I definitely don't think of bones or shells as edible.

I remember in Japan when they did a special steak dinner and they served it with shrimp, they grilled the shell under a spatula and served it ... I ate it.... But wasn't thrilled.

The woman will just eat shrimp in the shell if she's feeling lazy ...

betcha when her father visits, he says, "Jesus kid, you got him trained"...

It is, I love it. But if you're not using some really lean meats, you need to raise it off the bottom of the pan so it's not awash in all the fat that will render.

In response to the plethora of posts regarding eating "exotic" delicacies from around the world, I say . . . more power to those that are inclined to try them, but for ME, I'll just politely decline.
On a side note . . .On a dare, I DID try chocolate covered ants in elementary school back in the early 60's.

Why are tobacco and marijuana pipes made of different materials?

Marijuana not legal in Wisconsin, while many places in the state sell pot pipes.

How does that conversation at the register go.

Buyer: Hi, I'd like to buy a pot pipe.
Seller: As long as you don't smoke pot in it.
Buyer: I'll take two.

Same in IN. If a shop follows the rules, any mention of illegal use will prohibit sale and can result in ejection from the store. All pipes, papers, bubblers aka bongs, hookas are strictly "for tobacco use only."
