The states that pay the most taxes are the states that have a higher cost of living and therefore higher salaries. These tend to be more urbanized states.

The idea of red state/blue state was invented by election night media. Most state voter registration is pretty close to 50/50. (and the Republicans pay the taxes!)

If you lump city, county, state and Federal into a single entity, the answer would be "government". This would apply for all 50 states regardless of tint.

"Government" is now 40% of GDP.

I don't believe that's true. At least I used to have a regular job. You ever been pregnant? No? I see you commenting on abortion threads all the time. Besides, just because I personally don't make the majority of the money in this house doesn't mean the family of which I am a major part of doesn't pay taxes.

Very sad that so many of you keep bringing this issue up.

That is an article about New York City. You are aware that New York is the state, and New York City is a city in New York, right? Two totally different entities.

And yes, I started quoting percentages to prove wrong a statement that government jobs keep employment low in the North-East and to prove that 9 out of the 10 highest government employment states are conservative states, not liberal ones. You seem to want to pick NY, then try to make a point by giving NYC statistics.

Facts are the red states, the conservative states are bigger welfare whores than the liberal or blue ones. Fact. This goes against what the right wing keeps shoving down the public's throat, but it's true.

Stop wasting my time.
