Victor you're the smartest dumbass I know.

No. Not when you consider the time scale of planets. The earth has been cooling since it was a big lump of molten rock. It will continue to cool until our dying sun swallows it up or we are hit by another big asteroid. Why worry?

Have a drink and a smoke and enjoy life. Unless you are a creationist then you will be raptured prior to the earth’s end. You can still have a drink and a smoke but you don’t have as much time as the “Old World” crowd.

🤔
If the climate has changed or evolved over the past million years or so I would guess we have to... the change isn't gonna happen over night.... if we need thicker skin or bigger ears to shield us from the sun then it'll prolly happen naturally.... 😟

The current changes have been quick enough to suggest that within a generation or so there would be a sufficient enough climate change to impact our lives (either negatively or positively, probably depending on where you live). I'm with you... that's a long enough period of time for me to not care. This is why I don't care. But a lot of you guys have kids... kids who will have kids... I would expect logically that you would care about their well being. I suppose I could be wrong.

So, why aren't you demanding that we determine the cause?
Do you understand what I find so odd about that argument? IF you actually believe the environment is changing, AND you believe that it is changing in a way that is ultimately detrimental to you (or your family), THEN I would expect that you would be demanding answers and solutions....

Currently, the people who want to use the "natural cycle" or "China is dirtier" argument are using that argument as a reason to do nothing. Hell, if I were convinced that china was doing something ultimately destructive to my planet within the time-frame I cared about, I'd be pissed... maybe suggest some drone strikes or something...

Bottom line - if you believe there is some sort of change in a negative direction, then why aren't you doing anything about it? Too lazy? Don't care? Personally hoping for the destruction of mankind? (these are all valid answers to me, in fact, they're better answers than people usually give. At least they're congruent with their actions.

That's the point. Not sure if it's a natural or a man-made problem. Either way is it justifiable to go (more) broke fixing something that may not be broken? All the while Pope Gore and China profit from self inflicted Tokyo Accords? Don't think so. Not enough proof to convince me that living on a dirt floor will give me and generations to come (who spit on you) a brighter future.

We will no longer evolve in response to our environment, at least not the way you envision.
Technology has ensured that we are no longer going to evolve, as evolution takes generations and a technological solution can be implemented more quickly. An individual's ability to pass genetic material on and ensure trending towards their genetic phenotype is tied to their ability to survive with the technology we have used to assist us.

If you don't buy that the current solution is a valid solution to the problem, why aren't you demanding we further investigate the problem? I agree completely that if the solution is actually the incorrect solution, then spending money on it is likely a waste. But if you believed that then you'd be demanding we spend money on determining what the actual solution is.... not just demanding we not spend money. Does that make sense?

I think you should of added one more option to your list of choices that causes climate change. And that is the Sun, you know the big yellow thing in the sky that gives us sunlight. I mean it could have something to do with the weather right? 🤦

If you believe that the sun is having the current negative impact on our climate, and believe that the current impacts will worsen over time, then you really should get to work on a solution. It'll probably take a lot of time/money to develop some sort of space-based solution to the sun....

Why yes, yes, it does.
Now please stop bitchslapping me for a "problem" I don't think ineeds further investigating. I'm like you. I really don't care.

If anyone REALLY wants further cutbacks in emissions & other forms of contamination perhaps they should get the Chinese back on bicycles, fine the Russian NRC for global nuclear contamination ,and get Indians to stop leapfrogging from corpse to corpse on their sacred rivers & focus on cleaning up their underground water sources.

victor,
Challenge your assumptions. Desire for solutions are rarely part of any discussion that divides even vaguely along party lines. Rhetoric is valued much more than solutions.

I think I'll just position myself with the camp that subscribes to: "You other guys are all stupid. And you suck."

A while back Al Gore presented a "solution" that in his opinion would help stop global warming. The ideas and proposals brought forth in his solution, would barely make any impact at all. And mind you what he was proposing was very drastic. Now with that being said the sun and the earth have been around for billions of years, naturally going through stages of heat and ice ages. The last mini ice age happened less than 10,000 years ago. And many things not just man made affect the weather. There have been instances in which the planet cooled down for a years after a major volcanic eruption, recorded history in Europe tells of great famines and unnatural cold years that scientist determined an eruption half way around the world was most likely the culprit.

Solution for the Sun: none its been there for billions of years before we were here and it will be here billions of years after we leave.

Solution for volcanoes: unless you can plug them up permanently there isn't one either.

Nature is nature, we simply contribute to it.

Pfft.... that's quitter talk.
Planet cooling and heating has occurred throughout the earth's life. But not all of it was generally friendly to the inhabitants.

If you don't particularly care (a valid answer, as I've said before) then you can say "Meh... planet may become uninabitable and kill everyone, but I don't care enough"... But that is a MUCH different answer than saying "climate change is caused by natural cycles" (the difference is that the second is implying that you actually care about the future generations, but your hands are just tied... aka politician speak).

As for your famines due to the last ice age and/or volcanic eruptions... well? what are you going to do about it? (again, "nothing, don't care" is a valid answer)...

My point, again, is that even if some climate change is natural, that doesn't mean we couldn't try to do something about it. (no, I don't mean cork up a volcano)... "natural" isn't automatically synonymous with 'not going to do anything". Whether a cause is natural or man-made, you do a cost benefit analysis to determine whether it's worth fixing it. Too many idiots assume "natural" means they can just wash their hands of the whole thing.

Thanks Bloody

I try to stay away from politics and such but, because once I get started its hard for me to stop. But oh what the heck I defend others rights to speak, might as well have my voice be heard as well.
