Having trouble believing my eyes.

The French Laundry in Napa has some 1932 Cuban cigars on their menu for $150. Thats a bargain of the century, if its true.

What says you.

$165 for a machine made clear Havana? What a bargain. Might as well buy the whole box. 🙄

Vic don't go to the worlds best restaurant, owned by the worlds best chef. What do they sell on Market street?

Even if it is a high end hand rolled I would question how good it can be, though the experience might be worth the price. After a certain amount of aging no matter how great the wine it goes down hill and becomes just a novelty.

Thats where wines and cigars are quite different. Wines can be 75% with minimal aging. Cigars get three times as good with long term aging. If you read Cigar Aficionado's ratings they consistently get 100 points. But its not about just aging; the blenders and tobacco from that era are all long gone. Its like being able to travel in time.

Check this out- i found a review of the same cigar, only this was made in 1920- and the guy says its one of the strongest cigars out there, nearly a 100 years later!!

Thats what i was talking about, vintage stuff gets really really good. Its a whole nudher dimension.

here is his final conclusions,

"This cigar has a presence to it. It’s like watching a person enter the room, where everyone becomes aware that he/she has arrived, without having to say anything. That charisma, aura, wow factor. This was insanely strong and really took my palate to town. I got a real education tonight smoking this cigar. Impressive strong, muscular and bold. What a unique experience. A true ‘respect your elders’ moment."

I love to learn and grow, and i love that haters dont.

To my knowledge a clear havana has never gotten a 100 point rating from CA.

Five packs of clear havanas were being sold about two years back for 50-60$.

I am really surprised that folks here are not that aware of aging cigars and aged cigars. There is no comparison to wine. A cigar reaches perfection with serious age. I am shocked that lovers of the leaf dont know this 'must do'.

I am further amazed that people dont see what an investment cigars are now. Buy and hold, not only does the flavor get better, you quadrupole your money. Not only because they get better, but also they will get quite expensive to buy 10 years from now.

Sadly that what the world has come to, folks are prepping and buying bullets. Heck if the end is coming buy cigars!

Here is another review of a 100 point perfect cigar.

It could be the greatest clear out there, or could just be ok, regardless, the pricing is highly inflated. No different than bottles of wine or alcohol or their other cigars.

Depends on the cigar. Some get worse and most have a peak.

Turns out that if you age a crappy cigar, you don't get a great cigar. Just an old, crappy cigar.

Repeatedly citing CA ratings to back up any claims makes me laugh. And the idea that you can quantify improvements of aging on wine and/or cigars is laughable. I submit that there is more better tobacco grown now than ever in the past -- and I'd also bet that there are more and better rollers and blenders than at any time in the past. Sure, it can be agreed my most that many cigars improve with age. But, buying cigars as an investment is no more a sure thing than the stock market. Inflation, storage overhead and risk will balance out a lot of the huge gainers you read about. On the other hand, I kick myself for passing on Sublimes - I bought a box for a buddy three years ago for $210 and laughed my a$$ off. They now command $75+ apiece on the tertiary market.
