Pat Metheny Group - Still Life (Talking)

Inspired by Frankie’s “Last Train Home” comment last week.

When this album was released in 1987, I never dreamed I would one night be chilling out in the garage with a cigar and listening to it.

A couple of all-time jazz greats:

Joe Pass - 1988-12-12 - Four Queens Hotel, Las Vegas, NV

Great soundboard recording!

Jaco Pastorius Trio - 1986-10-31 - The Dock Restaurant, Tiburon, CA

It's Jaco, what more needs to be said?!?!

ive been on an Otis Redding and Sam Cooke kick lately. I've always been a fan of both but for some reason it has been my go to while driving lately if not listening to an Audio Book which is my general default when driving alone.

Just finished Stephen Kings the Outsider on Audio Book and have just started Into the Planet by Jill Heinerth which is about her being the first person to dive the ice caves of Antarctica (at least that is all that is covered so far as i am only a couple chapters in.

As a former Scuba Instructor i can never get enough of these stories and makes me long for the days of doing 10 or more dives a week. i hope to get underwater again sometime in the near future as my Teenage daughter was certified last year so i hope to enjoy some underwater time with her before i am unable to do so.

Was at the Fabulous Thunderbirds / SRV concert here in ‘86 and the promoter played the first part of the album before the concert and then the rest in-between the F-Tbirds and SRV. Bought it the first chance I got.

Lou Reed - A few years ago I Frankenstein’d the “Rock ‘n’ Roll Animal” and “Lou Reed Live” albums to accurately recreate the concert they were taken from. I sequenced the songs in correct order and crossfaded the tracks so they didn’t abruptly end or start. Took a few weeks to get everything right but to date the “reconstruction” is probably one of, if not the best CD sets I’ve ever done. The only bone to pick is that the guitarists, Steve Hunter and D*i*c*k Wagner, were flipped when they mixed “LRL”…and there’s no way I can fix that.
