i agree with your scenerio. but, rumsfield, bushe's man in charge, disagreed with the input from the generals and ignored there expertise.

Robby --- I guess you missed by sarcasm ... LOL!

I know the President is the Commander in Chief. I served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War era(fortunately, I didn't have to cross the big puddle) as a weapons mechanic in the ADC ...

Rick, just remember that London-based Clinton loathed those men who died for Bush, and Al spent his time in the military accompanied by a personal bodyguard supplied by daddy. There are not many in Washington who may cast a stone, except McCain and a very few others. Bush did look great yesterday, though, didn't he!

Face it Rick, your post is just too big.

If Rick runs against Bush in 04, I'm voting for Rick!! (unless it gets close)

Rick, is there a specific reason why you insist on bashing GWB constantly? You said to me on another thread that you didnt vote for Clinton. Who did you vote for?

I have gotten used to your posts(finally)and think some are very entertaining. But also, I dont think they arent totally accurate. Just my opinion. :>)

first the dsl throws me out, so i reboot.
"no keyboard present" so i reboot. sometimes this little fancy toaster is a pain, but i digress.

MAGNAFIDE

a double negative? one more and you have negatived out.

the reason i continue to bash bush (is that dirty?) makinmg me a bush basher (i know that is dirty) is rather simple to me.

i detest anything and everything about him from his dood old boy "charm" to his DNA. anytime i see him, i see a party drunk, and the moment or two i force myself to listen to him speak, i am repulsed.

lincoln was partly wrong. you can fool "almost" all of the people all of the time.

i voted for nadar and don't consider a vote for the candidate i believe is the best of the bunch, a wasted vote. i also voted for perot when he ran. he could have been president with larry king as his press secretary, if he didn't chicken**** out because of his daughters impending wedding. wow that sounds so dark and doomsday, instead of something to look forward to.

i do try to entertain, even in my rantings and i know i push the envelope of truth, but even at that, some of what a lot of guys won't accept, is true.

i saw the amaco commercial again last night. the one where they throw the tranny at the guy and he goes through the wall and i was reminded of you. sorry, i find it funny if i don't see it too often.

your opinion is as good or bad as mine and everyone else's an i'll kick the sh*t out of anyone that says otherwise.

gonz, it's a joke, a funny, please don't yank.

Rick you are a nice enough guy and I enjoy many of your posts, but your rantings about the President are getting to be old and it is about time you find something else to bang on! TRY YOUR Head with a hammer or something, LOL

I was a submarine fast attack sonarman 72-75. 4 spec ops for those that know what that means. The reason I was is because I had a low draft number and figured subs would keep me from getting my ass shot off in Viet Nam. Does that make me a coward or unworthy to lead those that served in a more dangerous position? Or are those that served or didn't serve in a less dangerous position unworthy to lead me? Please post the names of those from Humboldt County California that may have died in my place. I am very sorry they died in a worthless war but I don't feel a damn bit guilty that someone may have died because I didn't! I have always maintained that the reason we lost Veit Nam didn't have a thing to do with whether or not Clinton went and the same applies to Bush.

Guys and gals:

We get enough politics and debate in the media (and on the Miscellaneous board). Can't we just discuss cigars and how our spouses are going to kill us for spending WAY too much money on CBid?

WHOA - now there's a topic ....

.... just think ....

.... there'll be at least one week out of the month that NOBODY will pull our chain ....

.... N. Korea may be developing nukes .... but she'll be developing hot flashes of her own ... hehehe

you did exactly the right thing.

the difference i am trying to point out is you made the choice and didn't use political pull to avoid and evade.

when toby and i were in dc years ago, we made it a point to pay homage to the kids that the memorial was made to honor. 50,000 + youngsters sacrificed for nothing, nada, politics. and how many more wounded physically and mentally? a holocaust of american youth, on the pillar of ego of the men in charge. between westmoreland and nixon's sec of state (the name escapes me) men were sent to die in a "war" we were not prepared to win, and shouldn't have been involved in to start with.

i'm glad you are here to post either with or against me.

i was too old and my kids were to young for that

CanyonDVM: I've been in subs for 16 years now, multiple spec ops, including a few where I get to use the line "I could tell you where we were but then I'd have to kill you" (I love that movie). I do NOT envy you and your diesel boats though, you guys had it infinitely tougher than us nukes.
RICKAMAVEN: Lighten up. "I'll kick the crap (sic) out of..." blah blah blah, what are you going to do, spam us to death? You want to meet in a private chat room, the cyber equivalent of stepping outside? I've watched your posts for several months now and I've got to tell you I liked you better when you were talking about how good this cigar is or how bad that one is. You've obviously got a lot of experience with cigars and apparently the money to try new stuff routinely (I'd give a finger for 5 boxes of Bohemians), why don't you stick to talking about cigars?

I think this is a GREAT photo. Talk about a great maneuver by GWB!! Not only does he get the troops to think more highly of him, but he proves he's a 'real' guy who's running the country (after all, what real guy wouldn't want to land on a carrier --- talk about a thrill ride; my only gripe is he didn't chose a fighter), and he get's boku political points for the upcoming election. Hero, NO, he's not a hero, but he is one GREAT leader.

I can see why Rick has that feeling about GWB. It's the smirk on his face. But setting aside this one quirk, the guy's down to earth, decent, and an OUTSTANDING president. As for him looking like the party drunk, all I have to do is look at Clinton's nose and I immediately realize who the real party drunk is.
