Looks like I have a failed trade with Doug420.

This was a trade with a newbie originated in late February. I shipped my side without waiting for receipt from Doug which in retrospect was questionable judgement. My shipment was confirmed delivered by USPS on March 3. After no response for several days I initiated email and Trade board pings to get a response from Doug. Finally got an email response on 3/15 claiming he had been busy and lost track of things and wanting clarification of what he was supposed to send. Clarified his side back to him same day.

It is now over a month with no response to emails and no package delivered. The cigars I can certainly afford to lose but the total lack of responsiveness and communication is inexcusable. This is totally at odds with the generosity and responsibility exhibited by everybody else I have met and done trades with here. I am a pretty laid back guy but enough is enough.

Turnberry....man I hate to hear that! As a newer guy, that was accepted into your fold, (and I thank you all for that!) that kind of stuff only hurts worthy newbies! Sorry that this happened to you, it is not deserved!

Why someone would want to stiff one of the best traders around is beyond me.

Sorry to hear that Fred. I have had to tow a hard line with newbies lately. I insist that they send their end first. Never used to be a problem...

i guess i am the lucky one.
i did a trade with him also.
it seems like i am the only one that he sent cigars back too.that was a few months ago, and the best i remember it took him about three weeks to send them, but i did actually get a great trade from him.
sorry to hear about trades gone bad.
when i was a newbie people would trade with me,
so i feel i should also trade with all the newbies, and i usually do.

fred, please e-mail me his name - don't want to deal with him on other boards.

You should post his name here and on other boards so if in fact he is "working" generous folks you may be able to shut him down. I am getting a little tired of hearing the stories about people preying on the generosity of great people like the ones here. This is a small community and we all need to watch each other’s backs. If you steal, everyone should know it. Unless he is in a coma, dead or in jail, he should at least have the decency to tell you something.

I am sorry to hear that Fred, I had couple guys that I have to sent reminder emails during the pass couple months in some newbie trades so I finially started to ask all the newbies to send thier end first now. It's sad that it has to be that way 😞

As a noob I am glad to send my end first because I can see the history of the veterans from reading the boards, where as you guys know nothing about a newbie and there are alot of dishonest people out there as well as alot of generous people.

I have to agree. I just completed a newbie trade with Buddha and it went great. Actually we mailed each others packages on the same day.

I know from being a newb here that what the vets here do is truly a good and generous thing. It is a shame that a few bad seeds ruin it for everyone.

Fred,
Time to call the Gambichi Twins down in Old Town. Hehehehe

I am sorry to hear this Fred, and that it happened to the Godfather of BOTL.

In nearly five years of heavy trading I've gotten beat just once,on what I considered a small trade.Unfortunatly, the culprit responded to a 'ISO' post I initiated here.He got a little snotty when I pointed out that he had not confirmed receipt after a couple of weeks.I never saw his end and asked here if anyone had traded with him, using his handle and puported name. This prompted a demand to have his name removed from the second of my inquiries.

Too bad.I learned to trade with the aid of BOTL at the old JRBB,and always give more than I offer. His loss more than the ten cigars I shipped. Now I live at H.P. and am slightly proud of my reputation, which is something the other fellow obviously doesn't care about for himself. And while I come to CBid often,I haven't seen this guys name since then.

Oh yeah, the 420 code=pothead.Often those types have a little memory problem.

Sorry to hear about your loss Fred.........
Even more sorry to hear that dishonest scum like this would take advantage of a great and trusting bro like you.

It's happened to me a couple of times and those maggots have'nt appeared on C-Bid since! "The brotherhood has a way of getting the word around".

I kind of look at it like "skydiving"............
You jump out of the plane (send your package off) and have every faith that the shut will open............
If it doesn't.......... your trust has been violated and hopefully you didn't hit the ground toooooooooo hard!

For cugi55 especially...nobody need feel compelled to make up the loss most everybody here is overly generous already! I isn't the lost sticks just the principle of the thing.

Smelly....send me the contact on the Gambichi Twins. I have a cement contractor I may need to turn them loose on:-)

Since you asked the forgetful culprit is Doug Fortune of Coronado, CA.

Did Lowman get his end from him?
Lowman

NOPE ....

I did the newbie trade with Doug420. Sent him a lot of good sticks. I guess that I should have asked him send first, but I didn't. I did 2 other newbie trades without a problem.

He acknowledged, on the newbie trade thread, that he received my sticks on 2/27 and would be sending something out. Never received anything.

I sent him an email on 3/10 telling him I did not yet receive his end yet and wanted to check status.

On 3/15, he sent me an email saying that he is very sorry, he has been super busy and he will send something the next day (3/16). I haven't received anything yet.

On 4/5, I sent him another email asking status. Have not received a reply from him yet.

I have been pretty quiet about this and have not posted anything bad about it. I know that hdking and BuddhaDaddy have done successfull trades with him, so I don't want to bad mouth Doug if he really does have a legit reason for the delay.

BUT... I think that almost 2 months is long enough to wait...

I'll chalk it up to experience and write the cigars up as a loss.

I have to admit that I am very behind in a newbie trade and I hate being behind. I have explained the problem to the person that I owe and they have been very understanding as well as others who either I or both myself and Clive still owe to. Things happen that are unforseen and to all those that we owe know that when we can you will receive what is due you. So keep the faith in both of us please and thank you!

I was wondering if this was the same guy. I did a trade with him as cigardoug here right when he showed up. The trade went well.
