Rick, I cannot remember his name either, but he was an active duty Navy man! It is against the Uniform Code of Military Justice to give away secrets, position of ships at sea, etc and to speak against your Government among other things! JAG takes this seriously and they should especially in time of war! Charlie

Wasn't it 'cttmr'? Hope he's okay. Maybe he's under lurking status, or just using another name to post with? If not he should.

Rick, you are thinking of [email protected]. He was a bit harsh but his point was valid. The senior military guys should be especially careful. The troops hear that stuff and it could foster dissent. Dissent is okay in free society but ya can't have it in the military. I think that Colonel will be retiring soon. If he is lucky.

I recall that during the Clinton "dog years" some General or Col. in the military was forced to leave the military when he called Clinton a " ...a pot smoking, draft dodging, lying, womanizer" ..."

Being CORRECT is no excuse and he paid the price. You can not have this type of thing tolerated in the military

That's why all of us citizens can spout off about what a prick Clinton is...LOL! Freedom of speech baby!

"is" not was,is the operative word isn't it E.LOL
From what I understand the military is still free to speak they're minds, just not while proclaiming to represent active duty personel.

Oh Rick, here you go again......I guess flying aircraft filled with civilians into WTC and Pentagon is not an act of war! What is it? An act of Picnicing or socail misbehavior? You need to get off of your hate of President Bush and think as an American citizen who could be zapped at any moment by one of these non war events! Back to your hummingbirds and flowers and enjoy your freedoms! Charlie

char5353--perhaps you do not understand other countries can declare war on us like the japanese dec 7, but only our congress can declare war.---------- than let the congress declare war.-------- it has nothing to do with any president "ONLY CONGRESS CAN DECLARE WAR."------- comprende?

There is a war? Holy cow! When was it declared? I mean Congress is the only body that can declare a war, so I went to the Senate and house sites and coyuld find nothing on a war being declared.

THERE IS NO WAR.

The Bush Administration was given the authority to go after those terrorists responsible for the actions of Sept. 11, 2001. They were not granted the authority to nake war.

This war is no different from the war on poverty, the war on drugs or the war on getting blowjobs from interns. It's bullcrap. It is being used by the Bush Administration to keep secrets. It is being used to justify the rape of our economy and the creation of new debt that will ensure that we will never be able to pay it off. It is all a big lie.

Yes, terrorism is "a very bad thing"(tm). And as we can see from the many recent releases to the news media, our government was on top of the terrorists at the field agent level. They did not need expanded police powers that were given to them when the AG lied to the Congress and got his USA PATRIOT Act. Bringing back CONTELPRO is not going to make America safer.

Considering the AG lied under oath to Congress, just why is he still employed (since lying under oath is a "high crime and misdomeanor")? In fact, he is not the first Administration official to have lied under oath to Congress, that belongs to Ted Olson who said he had nothing to do with the AK project. He isn't the second, that belongs to "Enron" White, Sec of the Army. So, if lying under oath is such a "high crime and misdomeanor", just what are these three guys still doing in the employ of the People of the United States. If we could impeach a President for lying under oath in a private case deposition, surely these people should be canned for lying under oath to Congress about things that effect the Anerican people. An what about Pitt at the SEC?

On the positive side Milberg Weiss will be calling on Cheney to testify about his actions as CEO of an oil company that seems to have cooked the books a bit while he was running the show. It looks like the GOPs pushing for Paula Jones to be prosecuted against a sitting President is going to come back to haunt them. Bye ******.

met00-----welcome aboard. there is something about smoking cigars that makes most of the right wing ninny's on this board forget reality.---char5353 i repeat i don't hate bush, he is just a grown up spoiled brat, without an original thought in his brain, but like elmer fudd, with the correct words put in his mouth by his handlers, he can be transformed into charlie mccarthy (who could hold his own with wc fields).----unfortunately the democrats don't have the balls to put up the kind of fight the right wing does, down and dirty. newt, who divorced his first wife while she was dying of cancer and is now trading in his current for the younger model, is still speaking on tv, as though he had any personal integrity and could shed light on anything. wait till the republicans start on kerry when he runs.----i didn't miss the(tm).

met00 you and Rick, a kindly misinformed individual, need each other to support your anti-Bush drabble to the fullest. While Rick is a nice person, he just takes the Left viewpoint and believes it is all gospel! Yes, I am aware that Congress has to declare war! I went to school and know that 2 plus 2 is 3 whoops, meant 4! But with folks crashing airplanes into our country and killing scores of innocent civilians kinda seems like something more than a police action! Now as to an AG lying and keeping a job......hello Mr J. Reno! How short your liberal memory seems to be when it comes to making a point! The two of you keep cheering for the terrorist and we will hope that they are all killed and sent to Hell! I am going to go smoke a Montecristo today and be happy that we have Elmer Fudd, oopps GWB in the White House, becuase he is the first President in last few years to actually do something besides force himself on women and then lie like hell to the American public! You guys talk about lying and forget about your favorite leader, Bill Clinton! Charlie

char5353----i don't believe i've seen a post from met00, or is it metOO. i don't see all this stuff you made up about "you keep cheering for the terrorist", but it is a republican tactic, put words in someones mouth and make him look the fool because he said whatever, even though he didn't say it. show me where either one of us has cheered the terrorist.---"But with folks crashing airplanes into our country and killing scores of innocent civilians kinda seems like something more than a police action." what is your point?---until congress declares war, we are not at war.---what the hell does reno have to do with this maniac ashcroft (almost went for asscroft, but did not want to bring myself down to that level). what do these 2 have to do with meese.---what do your pres and clinton have to do with nixon or truman or eisenhower, a man who never made more than $150,000 a year and left an estate in excess of $5,000,000. not to mention, but i will, his liaison with his female driver. cliches do not win an argument. i will now light up a cheap la habanera as befits this discussion.

JonR-don't forget about the ones that have over-taxed us, under represented us and, oh yeah, who WAS the last one to get us out of debt? Rick, GWB surely isn't to blame for all of that! I know you can rattle off a zillion things you believe he IS responsible for, I'm just asking-who got us into this mess and WHY didn't the almighty Clinton/Gore gang get us out?
