War: 1 word...KOREA

GT: You must've hit the nail on the head. I haven't seen a response yet from Rick????? What's Up Rick????
You have to admit that Rick's completely liberal biases are funny, sometimes entertaining, and most times bordering the preposterous, but still entertaining.

Here's some interesting facts about Democrats: Korean "WAR" -- President was Truman, a Democrat; Vietnam "WAR" -- President who set the groundwork was Kennedy, and the President who escalated it out of control to the point of failure, was Johnson, both Democrats (this war was, ironically, ended by a Republican President, Nixon); only two Presidents ever to have been impeached were, amazingly enough, Democrats (Andrew Johnson, and most recently the cigar abuser - Clinton)(at least Nixon, who I had the pleasure of voting against twice in my life, had the common sense, decency, and strength to do the right thing by stepping down before the impeachment process began). We are presently at WAR, and Rick, if you don't believe it, maybe you should move to Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Sudan, (you name it) and see how long you survive.

On a more local note Rick, are you going to vote for Diane Finestein when she runs for Pres? or do you prefer Barbara Boxer? This frightening thought almost makes Jesse look good, doesn't it? Just think Johnnie Cochran could be Sec of Defense, and Al Sharpton could be Director of Homeland Security. AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!

The US has not fought in a declared war since WWII. The korean War, Vietnam, Grenada, Panama and Desert Storm were not declared wars, but they were military conflicts on a large scale. The president has the power as commander in cheif to use the military at his discression without the approval of congress. If George W wanted to launch a nuclear attack on Iraq he could do it right now. It would not be a declared war, but it could be done. The war powers act does limit the length of time the president can use these powers, and it was written in response to the Vietnam quagmire (sp). The second reason we do not declare war on a whim is that it is messy to end a declared war. This involves treaties and negotiations that almost certainly follow unconditional surrender by one side or another. There is not easy way out, like we took in Vietnam. Sometimes the presidential action is the most efficient way to takle a weak adversary.

Hey guys, it seems that the Liberal Left and Democrats are all one and the same in one messy twisted web! They mewl and scream foul when they have their feelings hurt and then thump their chest when they spend megabillions on some swamp irragation system to benefit the "American People". Interesting point about us not being in a declared war since WWII. Knew that but had not thought much about it, in my book we are in War now, and if they are too stupid to understand that-send their ignorant asses to the Middle East and let them see for themselves! WAR n ...
1. an armed conflict between countries or groups that involves killing and destruction ...
2. a period of armed conflict ...
3. the techniques or the study of the techniques of armed conflict ...
4. any serious struggle, argument, or conflict between people ...
5. an effort to eradicate something harmful
... ...
vi ...
1. to engage in an armed conflict with somebody ...
2. to be involved in a serious disagreement with somebody or a struggle to combat or eradicate something ...

...

Synonyms:
combat, warfare, fighting, confrontation, hostilities, battle

... ... ... a cursory reading of war's dictionary definition shows that the US is clearly at war, just not a congressionally DECLARED war ... "Police Action" was the term the Truman administration used to describe what we were doing in Korea in an effort to make it a less bitter pill for the public to swallow, having just completed a very draining global war and to skirt the issue of perhaps having Congress become balky at engaging in that "Police Action" ... it's a ploy used by Presidents of both parties since that time ... without a discussion of any of our past "armed conflicts" and their merits or the lack of them, I want to say that I am in full and total support of the current administration's war on terrorism ... IMNSHO, the US has dilly-dallied and shilly-shallied for FAR too long a time, talking and acting as though the sponsors of terror will somehow come to be reasonable if we only educate them better or feed them more fully, talk sweetly to them or kiss their (expletive deleted) or other anatomical regions ... and that is just plain unvarnished BULLSH** !!! ... we waited to deal with these shiite-heads until they flew airplanes into our buildings and would've done worse if their plans had all worked out ... we've discovered that another plan yet to be acted out, called for a "dirty bomb" to be set off somewhere in the US (and where?? at the Space Needle in Seattle? at the Golden Gate Bridge in SF? at Disneyland, Disneyworld, the Alamo, Wrigley Field, the Boardwalk or atop Bunker Hill????) ... the bleeding hearts are in full voice to accord the guy arrested in this case all his "rights" ... I say f*** him! he gave up those rights when he signed on with those who would destroy America ... same as little mister TalibanBoy from Marin ... these guys knew exactly what they were up to and they had the bad luck (good luck for us) to get caught ... they had no plan to grant us our rights, but to destroy us ... I am NOT in favor of some ubiquitous police state, but I AM fully supportive of using all necessary means to root out and eliminate every single vestige of those who plot terrorist acts ... we can go feed, educate and hug the remaining innocents such as the horribly abused women of Afghanistan, once the war is over ...

IMPORTANT NOTE FROM GONZ

this is not THE RICKAMAVEN - this is an imposter that played a "font" trick on you by registering a similar name but replaced the I with a lower case L. That kind of crap is not welcome here and the user has obviously been banned.

I can act like I'm way left. SOMEONE has to. I will carry the torch for Rick until he gets back. I think he must be in the hospital(probably run down by some conservative right wing conspiracy) and someone is using his handle(same conspiracy).

xrundog : I finally read this post. You are correct, it was me, and you may think I was harsh - most on this board did think so. But what you didn't know was all of the 'suggestive' comments I made to CTTMR to refrain from continuing his behavior. To make it even more interesting, the posts he put up were not even his own - he was cutting and pasting them from another site. RICKAMAVEN - thanks for the punt of bringing forward the fact that I did him a favor - I do recall however that YOU made a harsh post after I finally stepped down hard on CTTMR - but I did not take his career away from him and leave his family in financial chaos for a few stupid posts. Again - I wasn't either agreeing with him or disagreeing with him on what was posted - it was only the facet that he had identified himself as Military.
