You'll never get a common ground on welfare, mostly because the sytem is loaded with fraud, yet it's own rules discourage the reduction or termination of benefits even when caught. It teaches no self reliance, you aren't held to any strict guidlines on finding gainful employment, It creates dependancy and the recipients themselves aren't ecpected to repay the money so what values are you teaching here. In a broken home, the absent parent is expected to repay the state and when you have a system like that how in the world are you realistically ever going to get in the black? Sure they come up with EBT cards and programs that only allow you to purchase certain necessities, but the people who purchase them know they can go to the Korean grocer on the corner who'll buy it back below cost or exchange it for cigarettes, lottery or hot foods. The people repaying the funds have no say as to how the money is being spent. What is wrong with the state requesting bills and a spreadsheet of how the welfare is being spent? They don't even have to take any financial responsibility classes. It's like putting a bag of food in front of a dog, they'll keep eating and eating with no regard to the amount left. All they know is the master always puts another bowl down.

By expecting people to work for the money you don't put people out of work, you take these folks and have them do the endless jobs that companies bid on. We have a cleaning crew here that the state pays. Many jobs are bid on and they have to take a percentage of minority companies. Well, if the percentages of welfare recipients are truly minority, doesn't putting them to work in these jobs fill the quota that we need to acheive? By sinking stimulus money into programs such as these, the money goes directly where it's been intended all along. Again we fall back to the politicians who won't vote on it because then they can't redirect the $$ to special earmarks for their own gain. So again I fall back that these agencies cannot be state or federally supervised. It has to be privately run and not be beholding to political oversight.

Currently we reward more children with more money. We need to reward more children with LESS money, especially if you're already on state assistance. You can't afford the ones you have now, what the ef are you doing having more? Noone is telling you what you can do with your body, but we can damn sure tell you what to do with our money. Oh, and the father isn't in the home? Another penalty. Don't even know his name, even less.

You have two chance to comply with the rules. Break them the first time and get a time out. Break em again, yer done. We arn't going to play these games. Your getting assistance because you need it. And yes you're absolutely right it's embarrassing. It should be. It's not a badge of courage. Encourage others to speak up when they see fraud. Reward it. And if it proves to be ficticious and done for personal gain, buh bye.
