I'm sure it will help. It may not cure anything but home cooked food and comfort meals along with some family love can go a long way for most minor aliments.

Do you actually have winter in your area? A low of 50° temperatures does not qualify as winter.

I LOVE soup and don’t really have a favorite but in my Top 10 are;

Bird’s Nest - difficult to find a place that still offers this. Gotta order it if it’s available

Campbell’s Chicken Noodle - yes, from the can! Comfort food at it’s roots

French Onion - with an order of escargot and a Caesar’s salad, a great late night meal!

Miso soup with Asari clams - next time you eat sushi, order this as your last dish and you’ll see why. Miso soup with Nameko mushrooms is also very good.

New England Clam Chowder - ordered Manhattan CC once, quote The Raven: Nevermore

Ozoni (Japanese New Year’s soup) - wife makes her’s with a whole chicken. Supposed to be a once-a-year dish but we like it so much we often times make it in the late Spring or early Fall too

Pho - when done right and the soup is so rich from the hours and hours of boiling the bones, it is very hard to beat

Shark Fin - okay, okay, it’s not PC to serve this anymore but man, I miss those days when you could go into a Chinese restaurant and order it anytime. Throw in a shot of Scotch and the taste jumps up!

Steamed Duck Noodle - the noodles and the duck leg are the main course but the soup is the real reward

Tomato Bisque - I like “regular” tomato soup but the bisque upgrade is soooo much better. But, I rarely see it on menus so when it is, will order it

Gotta add Homemade Chicken soup to the list. With all the wet and cold weather recently, some hot soup sounds good.

My Mom's ox-tail soup and sweet n sour pigs feet soup are my childhood faves. I always order it if I ever see either on a restaurant's menu...and will usually be disappointed. I make the ox-tail soup occasionally and find it to be very close to Mom's. Could never come close to the pigs feet soup, tho.

As for soup at a restaurant, my fave is Pho...second is cioppino.

Palama's list contains some rare, hard-to-find and expensive soups served at high end Cantonese restaurants: sharks fin and birds nest soups...both delicious and usually served on special occasions and at celebratory meals.

Mexico makes some excellent soups, my two favorites:

Albondigas hearty Mexican soup made with flavorful, juicy meatballs in a delicious tomato-based broth.

Posole Rojo is a hearty Mexican soup made with hominy and pork, in a red chili broth.
