I have nothing against EV's or "green energy" endeavors. They have their place and time, like most things, where they are a better tool. Let the market, technology and the consumer decide what works best for them not government mandates. If you want an electric vehicle and it works for you, go for it (I own one - an Ebike). If I don't own an electric car or have solar panels or windmills then don't penalize me for my choice.
I shouldn't have to pay the electric company or the government money for not buying one so they can give someone else rebates because they chose an electric vehicle rather than some other version of power equipment.
My electric bill includes charges for electric vehicles, renewable energy, distributed solar charges. Granted it's only like $15 a month for those add on charges but why do I have to pay for it if I don't own any of it. ($15 x 12 = $180/yr penalty). Do I get credit from the electric company for owning an ebike? I have battery powered power tools, do I get credit for those rather than a plug in the wall one? Nope. Should my cell phone company be allowed to charge me extra money for not using an iPhone rather than an Android phone of the other way around? Nope.
Again, let the market, technology and the consumer decide what works best for them rather than government mandates.
(Brew will make some silly comparison of incandescent light bulbs vs LEDs or seat belts or some other irrelevant comparison)
