You should know that we all pay taxes that get used for a large number of different things that we don't personally use.

If I never bought gas, should my taxes subsidize Exxon? Yes, if it is in the overall interest of my country.

Should I complain about my tax dollars going to things I do not use? Maybe - it's the voting process and politics of what is best for the country. And no one - on one - is 100% happy about how taxes are spent.

So, you choose not to benefit from Green tax subsidies. Please, cry us all a river.
Just be judicious about it; you would not want to look like someone who cares exclusively about themselves - or would you?

Brewha wrote:

Once again, you are missing the point. This is not about taxes, that's a different topic. The charges I'm referring to are above and beyond taxes. My taxes that I pay have those subsidies rolled into them. This is an individual company (not the government) adding additional charges above and beyond taxes for products and/or services that I don't use.

Let's try this again. Say you order a plain cheese pizza, you pick it up and pay with cash. You look at your bill and you are charged for some pepperoni, some mushrooms, and a credit card service charge. Neither of those are contained in the product or service that you purchased. You are OK with paying for those charges?

Plus, you can stop with all that green infinitives BS about how EVs are an important positive step in that direction. There are plenty of examples out there and posted here showing that it is just smoke and mirrors. If you look at the entire life cycle from mining the supplies from the Earth all the way through to the death of the vehicle, the infrastructure needed to meet the pie in the sky goals and so on - it's actually a negative impact with our current technology and anticipated technology advances in our lifetime. Just set the goal/mandates and hope a miracle happens to achieve them.

It's great to set (arbitrary) goals but if there is no real world way of obtaining those goals it's all for naught.

The link doesn't work for me. I'd be interested in reading it.

I try not to be biased and try to base my opinions and stance on facts rather than what is pushed from sources that have a some preconceived notions or alternative motivations. I am not against "green energy." I actually wrote a paper trying to highlight the benefits of solar panels and wind power for a class I did a couple years ago (yeah, I know... who the F are you?).

We had to pick a topic and research it then write a paper on it. The sources must be from solid sources and scholarly articles. You had to address information that supported your argument and refute those that didn't. My initial premise was how solar and wind is going to make a big impact on our ability to move from fossil fuels to "green energy." While digging into it, reading stuff to support my argument (I really wanted to support my initial stance) but it started to melt away. Solar panels and windmills have been around for decades. They have made advances over the years (heavily supported by government taxes and subsidies) but they are not the solution.

By the end of the semester and writing the final paper, I had to admit in the conclusion that my initial premise was not reality.

Just look up PNAS, I suspect you can find it from there. The article gets into an area or 2 I never thought of. The part about increased tire pollution is fascinating. I have never thought of tires in terms of pollution. It also discusses Cobalt and Lithium pollution reasonably well, though not in enough depth. Bucky, I find commercial flat roof wind turbines interesting, the concept is very different than the big windmills. It reminds me more of hydroelectric than anything else, though I have not looked up how feasible they are or are not.

In other news….

A Washington man has been arrested and charged with vehicular homicide after a Tesla in autopilot mode slammed into a motorcyclist, killing him.

The crash happened around 3:45 p.m. Friday in Maltby, Washington, according to a Washington State Patrol incident summary.

If you're keeping score at home and you're playing against Brewfart...you're already going to win, but I also don't look anything like David Lee Roth. I appreciate his contributions to Rock N Roll, believe him to be an awesome person and a very sharp mind. Never said I looked like him either. I just happened to really like the hat.

Oh, I love Van Halen (RIP EVH!) and DLR. I regard them as the soundtrack to my late teenage and early adult summers! **** Van Hagar and Sammy. Sammy was okay on his own and personally I felt he didn't need to front Van Hagar. If his pride would've said "NO!", then Dave's return to the fold would've happened more naturally and sooner than it did, but he wanted it and the brothers used him as the clown to agitate. DLR is without a doubt a Top 10 frontman. He was an integral part of Van Halen and their success. When you go back and watch the interviews you hear him talking about the band. Not about himself. I was really shocked when I just found out that DLR was given a contract to make a movie and he went back to the band to record a soundtrack and the brothers said "No". It wasn't about him. Now, the ugly separation without Dave was just awkward. Yes, I bought the releases of both Van Hagar and Dave's solo work. Van Hagar had very little in regards to material worth a 3rd listen. Dave's unfortunately did not garner the radio play it deserved. Saw Van Hagar at the Monsters of Rock and it was a laughable event. Sammy pranced out dressed like Ronald McDonald with a Britney Spears headset microphone. This was the first exposure to Van Hagar and the Pontiac Silverdome wasn't having it. Dave especially with Billy Sheehan, Gregg Bissonette and Steve Vai assembled a band around him that was made for success. He took the best parts of Van Halen and found players that were as good or better than the originals. It's a shame it didn't last. I get why it didn't. I will say in the shows I did see with Dave he didn't crap all over the Van Halen catalog. It was done respectfully and he added touches like harmonies (that he probably wanted there all along!) that made sense. The Coup de Grace was the ill fated Dave & Sammy tour. What a torturefest THAT was. In the end I was glad that Dave FINALLY made it back home and the 2 tours (5 shows) I saw from them made me smile that they were back and like Dave said...3 parts original, 1 part inevitable. Wolfgang was able to cover anything and everything Michael Anthony was able to do. His crime was being friends with Sammy Hagar and choosing sides against the brothers. Oh well.

Enough of the talk of Music...this is a thread devoted to EV's or as I can now call it...their demise. Once the government tit is out of stooges mouths and they have to exist on their own...it will become obvious that there was bamboozling, hoodwinking and people lead astray.
