Happy Saturday fellas.

Saw a dead chicken in the yard so I went outside to throw it in the compost pile. Had to turn back around and put a jacket on.

45° this morning.

High of 60.

Bring back the summer

Hope you feel better, Drafter. Sounds painful.

It's 65 and sunny here with a high of 70. There's a few clouds, overall a nice day.

Going to make some fried eggplant and then homemade pizza later on. Had pizza last weekend too. We rarely make the same cheat meal two weekends in a row but I requested it. That homemade marinara w/ garden veggies makes a fine pizza.

Other than that idk. Maybe have a cigar and relax.

You guys have a good weekend.

Was one of my fattest birds and she's not been acting right for at least a week. Looks like she either died yesterday or didn't make it into the coop overnight and died last night. Eyes were gone but nothing eaten so I think she just died and the other chickens pecked her eyes out this morning. I said she was one of my fattest because when I picked up the carcass to toss on the compost pile this morning she couldn't have weighed more than 3lbs. Probably hasn't eaten in some time.

Guy at work asked if I'd possibly be able to fix his mower. Hit a stump and it's been running rough and backfiring and stuff.

I figured he partially sheared the woodruff key in the flywheel so I told him $20 it's a 10min job. Dropped it off this morning and pulled the flywheel and the key is perfect. No shear line, no wear whatsoever.

Threw a compression gauge in and checked that, 90psi and no leakdown.

Checked gap on the ignition coil and a bunch of shmoo came off on my feeler. Cleaned that out, reset the gap and bolted it down. Reassembled and it runs perfectly. Looks like the brake that contacts the flywheel when you release the deadman lever built up a bunch of material on the ignition coil and the stump hit was just coincidental.

I don't think I even need to mow this week.

I know I dont want to. Wife wants me to cause some parts are uneven. But imma procrastinate to next week.

It's the only part of cooler weather I like. Less mowing. But soon the leaves will be falling and that means daily leaf mowing.

Daily?

RobertHively wrote:

When the leaves are falling yes. I'll mow every day. Not a full coverage lawnmowing, just chopping up the leaves so they don't plug the culverts. Mulching blades and chute block. I quit picking em up years ago. I keep looking at trac vacs every year but this is less work than picking em up.

Put all my reaper peppers in a jar of brine to ferment last weekend. Opened the jar today and felt like I got pepper sprayed the fumes were brutal. Added a dozen more peppers to the jar.

pretty sure that's code for sumthin...

107F now, going up to forecasted 111F...

We had invited our son and daughter and their families over for a swim party/barbecue dinner and Dodger game this afternoon and evening...as luck would have it we had an algae bloom in the pool yesterday...algae growth on the sides and bottom of the pool and the water was green...so yesterday, in the midday heat, I brushed the walls and floor of the pool, then added some chlorine and ran the filter all day...looked better this morning...Party On!!!

manual labor in 110+ heat is miserable, but I've got a deep tan going...

Biodex time brother.

As I get older I don't remember how I survived working outside jobs all summer in 110+ in my youth. I do remember it was a major impetus for me to find work indoors though.

Loving the weather here in Jersey.
Coffee and cigar time at work. 61° and clear blue sky. Little breezy too. Little taste of fall before the 80's arrive again later this week.

Damm! We are expecting a low of 68° tonight, but a quite a bit more humidity here. When w lived in Liguna Niguel our house had AC, but we only used it a few nights a year when the Santa Anna winds were blowing.

A few months of heat with high humidity and you would love the hum of that AC equipment. :-"
