Robert... Tom... hunker down, boys. It's looking like it's going right across the middle of the peninsula. Hoping wind shear slows it down. ๐Ÿ™

I'm at a resort where a fellow cigar smoker is staying, His home is in the Tampa Bay area and he is rather concerned about whether his house will be there or intact when the storm exits.

Weโ€™re staying but I am on the Atlantic side. We are not in any level of evacuation zone and have a brand new house built to current code. Have no big trees to fall on it either.

We are stocked up but wish I could have got my generator operational. I got it in 2004 when we got 4 hurricanes in approximately one month.

This thing is gonna hit DMV then rfenst then me as it crosses the state.

Yep... my friend that lives in Bradenton is already on his way to stay with us for a few days. I'm seriously considering a Generac whole home generator, myself... just need to talk to them to see how to power it. No gas lines in my neighborhood, so I would need a propane tank installed.

I've got tall pine trees behind the house that are within "falling on the house" distance. They sway pretty bad when it's windy, but usually side to side and not towards the house. If one did fall on the roof it would suck... but they're not really thick trees, so it prolly wouldn't kill anyone.

I'm up in what Florida calls hills. Rolling hills. 30 miles as the crow flies from the west coast of the east coast. Lost a total of 5 trees the last go...2 of them being 35' cedars. Got the bulk of that quartered and stacked. Windows boarded or will be boarded before nightfall tonight. I don't want to wait until it's raining to put them up. This one has me worried. People are already going full zombieland. Watched a fist fight going down at a tesla charging station...grocery stores are almost empty. Could see I-75 and it was at least moving but very busy. Gas stations are running out and not being supplied everywhere. Download the GasBuddy app. Could mean all the difference. I'm not an overly religious man, I believe in God but I don't profess his existence or reach out to others but if you are a believer I'd appreciate prayers for the state, the people living here and that we escape this with the minimal loss of lives and property damage. Also thank a lineman!

Stay safe and be ready. Keep the tanks full.

We just got Internet back, and electricity took seven+ days. The area is still a mess, apparently we didn't have a tornado in our town, just 100+ MPH winds. We must have a couple million tons of wood piled up all along the roads.

I hate to see them not get a rest, but we do have linemen here from as far away as Ontario, Canada and most of the eastern states. Tree cutters from all over too.

On the plus side, the tracks are a teeny bit south of us now instead of being drawn directly over our heads. on the negative... It's still 500 miles out and could wobble back over like the world's most dangerous fidget spinner. This one is the first I'm really worried about in 5 decades of living here. Smoked my last cigars for awhile, gonna be a bit windy to chill outside. Did most of the yard policing yesterday, need to get the last of it today. Not thrilled that the piles of debris from our yard for Helena is still there piled up by the road, the county hadn't gotten to our area for pickup, so now there are ready supplies of missiles everywhere. Going to be an interesting time here. I'm only 2-3 miles from the beach, but thankfully on the ridge in no danger of surge, but this wind is gonna be something.

Yep... got my grass cut, trimmed and edged. All yard tools cleaned and stowed. Buddy is here and we're chillin' with some beers. Brisket is done and resting...

If we lose power, at least I got a grill and propane... and lots of brisket.
