HockeyDad,

You are very correct, the testament to the rich diversity that you speak of is THE CUBAN CULTURE. There is a reason they never discovered fine cigars, jazz, art, architechture and mojitos....in Jamaica....there was never an audience for it.

To celebrate life is to Celebrate Cuba.

Oh, I know the debts are still valid . . .

I just thought you had previously owned something prior to Castro . . .

Or, your dad did, ect . . .

Thanks !

Jetblasted,

That's exactly what I have.

A valid bearer bond payable in gold from prior to Castro. The company was illegally seized by Castro and its assets are now part of the Cuban government.

"Well...anyone care to comment on HD's post?

Didn't think so. "

Sure, see all my posts, and HD is right on.. And also see my posts on "Cuban Lawyers" Although I wouldn't have used "peasants" probably not politically correct 🙂

Sorry, I have not been on the board....

What an irony….. Right here on this site, we have cigar manufacturers that lost it all to Castro’s Gestapo.

To add insult to injury they watched helplessly while the infidel destroyed the islands cigar business.

Even sadder that some dumb-ass idiots here think that its better under Castro.

I will never understand marijuana inspired rebellion.

I can follow their reasoning, like someone above wrote, ‘you cant dupe millions’ what?? Besides who needs to dupe when you have a gun to their heads.

Adroomi,

As per remembering Cuba: All the way up to the 70’s Cuban culture was still fresh in the memories as was the Hemingway flame. Most today don’t know what the La Floridita was or stood for. I don’t think you know either because you would not ask what has changed under Castro, or what does anyone remember.

You really would not understand anyway, there is world of difference between the Grace and Grandeur of Cuba past, and the sex tourism that attracts folks to southeast asia.

Boy this is going to get messy. I guarantee you a lot of people in Ney York, Massachusetts, Virginia and other states are not going to like it when they hear how Hockeydad owns old British land scrip laying claim to their rightful north american colonies. To make matters worse honest capitalists from Kansas, South Dakota, Missuouri, Georgia, and other states are going to be mighty pissed off when they find out they have to give the land stolen from the indigenous Americans back; they'll be waving their deeds in the air and roaring about rights. But they're not going to be half as pissed as the Israelis when they find out that Hockeydad owns some old Palestinian land scrip, and that all lands acquired in conquest will simply have to be returned by court order. But what comes around goes around, and the British will be a little upset about the Falklands too, not that there's anything there but a few sheep, they just like owning it damnit! The Spanish really discovered Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and most of the other carribean & central america lands, which Teddy Roosevelt took over in the early 20th century. Spain is going to be one happy evictee when they find out Hockeydad owns some old spanish land scrip. But the worst blow of all will come to battlin' George Bush, who illegally toppled the Hussein regime in Iraq recently, dismissing the entire ruling class and the military, confiscating their homes, and giving over land, political power, the treasury over to the Malaki government. All Hussein needs is the right lawyer. The ousted Taliban of Afghanistan have been contacting attorneys to get their "illegally" procured lands back as well; after all, what's right is right. God bless contract law and those fortunate enough to know an attorney who understands it. All revolutions, conquests, and "illegal" international and domestic acquisitions are hereby decreed null & void into perpetuity, pending further discretionary review by qualified members of the bar.

Hey Doc . . .

Please Use Paragraphs . . .

Since a paragraph is a series of sentences which are about one aspect of a topic, cutting my rant into different paragraphs would have been sorely improper form. As usial, only the highest standards will be considered when entertaining myself here on the boards.

M: I came here for a good argument.

A: No you didn't; no, you came here for an argument.

M: An argument isn't just contradiction.

A: It can be.

M: No it can't. An argument is a connected series of statements intended to establish a proposition.

A: No it isn't.

M: Yes it is! It's not just contradiction.

A: Look, if I argue with you, I must take up a contrary position.

M: Yes, but that's not just saying 'No it isn't.'

A: Yes it is!

M: No it isn't!

A: Yes it is!

M: Argument is an intellectual process. Contradiction is just the automatic gainsaying of any statement the other person makes.

(short pause)

A: No it isn't.

M: It is.

A: Not at all . . .

Not trying to be oppositional, but if it troubles you that much, simply skip it, freeing up time for other valuable activities ... or not. Either way works for me.

Actually I am done arguing, I outlasted Adroomi who tends to bail out if he starts to think he may be wrong, and of course nobody can win a discussion with Doc, cause he thinks he is never wrong!!!

At least Jpotts is not on this tread or it would have gone to 500 !!

Besides, I know I am right anyway!!

Jet,

Jet,

Yes, I am learning.....

There really is never a argument (I mean discussion) won on the board!!! But at least if it doesn't come down to name calling or insulting some one's mother, (or the "your ignorant because you don't agree with me") I figure it's a victory !!!
