Shot a glok 43, s&w shield and ruger lc9s last night. I was horrible with the 43 and just flat out hated it. It was the first of the three I shot and I almost didn't try the other two thinking I just need a larger framed gun.
The ruger was next and I was spot on with it. I almost did t have to use the sights. It just shot where I wanted it to. Weird.
The shield was ok but kept jamming. The range officer warned me it might because it was filthy and he had complaints from the person shooting it before me. Meh.
The ruger is on sale at cabelas for $319. Holy cow.
Talk me out of buying it so I don't have to ask RAM if I can.

The LC9s is an excellent pistol. My wife has one an likes shooting it a lot more than her Ruger .38 LCR revolver. I have compact SIG and H&K pistols that are much larger than the LC9s and not appreciably more comfortable to shoot.
I got the pistol in an auction, after about 120 rounds the striker sleeve broke so I called Ruger. They sent me a prepaid return label and had the pistol back in less than a week. They also upgraded the magazine release.
I have a Glock 42 (.380) and like it, but every time my wife shoots that pistol it will fail to extract, the LC9s doesn't have that problem.
The LC9s does have a magazine safety that prevents it from firing if the magazine is removed. Not too big a deal, the trigger block is cleared when you insert a magazine so it does not affect trigger pull. The magazine safety can be easily removed.
The LC9s grip is very slim so I added a Limbsaver grip sleeve, to add a little padding for her hands. Wearing gloves also helped her with racking the slide as she once pinched her palm trying to rack a buddies Walther pistol.
How was racking the slide..?? My wife needs one she can operate easily... many of these semi-autos are too hard for her paws to pull... 😟

My wife had the same problem. I found a purple Ruger LC9s she shoots it very well. The color made it interesting enough to learn how to rack using both arms in opposing directions. Last Monday she ran about 150 rounds through the LC9S, including clearing one failure to extract.
Ruger also makes the LC380, the same pistol but chambered for the .380 ACP if racking the 9mm version is too hard or a revolver might be the right solution.
