Shot a glok 43, s&w shield and ruger lc9s last night. I was horrible with the 43 and just flat out hated it. It was the first of the three I shot and I almost didn't try the other two thinking I just need a larger framed gun.

The ruger was next and I was spot on with it. I almost did t have to use the sights. It just shot where I wanted it to. Weird.

The shield was ok but kept jamming. The range officer warned me it might because it was filthy and he had complaints from the person shooting it before me. Meh.

The ruger is on sale at cabelas for $319. Holy cow.

Talk me out of buying it so I don't have to ask RAM if I can.

444 if you want 3 magazines and a holster.

The $444 isn't a good deal. $319 is.

It's the model with the safety and the icky mag safety but I don't care. It's personal preference and I am used to and like safety's.

The non safety model is still $419.

How was racking the slide..?? My wife needs one she can operate easily... many of these semi-autos are too hard for her paws to pull... 😟

Bought my 43 with three mags for about $319. Love the blue label Glock program. The last time I shot the POST course with it I scored a 114/120. Put 10/12 rounds inside the ring from 25 yards. Slung 2 off the left shoulder from 15 yards. Go figure.

You've already talked yourself into it. If it is comfortable, and you shoot well with it... what's the hold up?

The LC9s is an excellent pistol. My wife has one an likes shooting it a lot more than her Ruger .38 LCR revolver. I have compact SIG and H&K pistols that are much larger than the LC9s and not appreciably more comfortable to shoot.

I got the pistol in an auction, after about 120 rounds the striker sleeve broke so I called Ruger. They sent me a prepaid return label and had the pistol back in less than a week. They also upgraded the magazine release.

I have a Glock 42 (.380) and like it, but every time my wife shoots that pistol it will fail to extract, the LC9s doesn't have that problem.

The LC9s does have a magazine safety that prevents it from firing if the magazine is removed. Not too big a deal, the trigger block is cleared when you insert a magazine so it does not affect trigger pull. The magazine safety can be easily removed.

The LC9s grip is very slim so I added a Limbsaver grip sleeve, to add a little padding for her hands. Wearing gloves also helped her with racking the slide as she once pinched her palm trying to rack a buddies Walther pistol.

My wife had the same problem. I found a purple Ruger LC9s she shoots it very well. The color made it interesting enough to learn how to rack using both arms in opposing directions. Last Monday she ran about 150 rounds through the LC9S, including clearing one failure to extract.

Ruger also makes the LC380, the same pistol but chambered for the .380 ACP if racking the 9mm version is too hard or a revolver might be the right solution.

I've got a 1st gen LC9 hammer fired and it's been a great little gun. Well over 1K rounds through it with no issues. Carry it in a DeSantis Mini Scabbard holster, don't even hardly know it's there.

I shot a G43 and didn't like it as much as the LC9. My favorite carry piece is a G19 though.

$319.00 is a good price on that great little Ruger IMO.

ETA- You can get rid of the magazine safety so it will fire with the mag removed. I'm NOT condoning or endorsing doing that, but you can if you wanted to.

Without the ghost connector (trigger mod) and grip extensions I wouldn't like shooting my 43 either

The pro has no safety or mag safety but it's still $419. I don't mind the safety, the mag safety is weird.

I also don't like having to use a punch to field strip but that's not a deal breaker.

Funny, it looks smaller than the other two yet was very comfortable.

depends on your purpose for the gun

if it is to be a smallish iwb carry then it is hard to argue against glocks reliability

also, for that purpose, "accurate" means hitting center mass at ~7 yards

dont overlook the xds in 9mm (but if you are going to get the 9mm get the 45acp as they are the same size)

I want a 9mm. I like the round and already have several thousand rounds of ammo.

I absolutely hated the glock. Hated it. I was shooting 10 and 15 yards. It was all over the place (admittedly me but who cares). I could probably learn it but it wasn't natural. It wasn't grouping at all so I couldn't even think well it's low left so if I to this etc. I'm not big on brand which is why I ended up CZ. I want what works for me. I know there are glock fans everywhere who get butthurt (not you) if you don't sing their praise. I didn't shoot it well, didn't find it comfortable, and there was nothing about it that made me like it. I shot something else very well immediately that i could almost forget is in my hand. Why bother? Thats not to say another model may not grab me for another purpose.

The ruger was all not just center mass but tight groups and center center mass. It was only one time shooting though. I wasn't thinking about the sights at all. Just shooting.

I've was looking Sig 938, and willing to look XD but $319 is half what I could get the sig for.

I am thinking carry. Unfortunately with my schedule I am often in buildings and parking lots (think on base etc where you can get searched) that I can not carry under fed law. It really effs things up for me.

Glocks are excellent pistols, however, their grip and grip angle do not fit everyone. I tried to love their .45 Model 21 but it didn't fit my hand and I was not accurate shooting that pistol. Not the case when I shoot my compact Ruger 1911. I had given up on Glocks until I tried a Glock 27 and a Glock 23C they both fit well and I could hit with them. The moat reliable pistol in the world is worthless if you cannot hit your target.

Also, what do you all do if you might have to go on the premises where carry isn't allowed in your car or on your person.... it really does make it difficult for me to consistently carry or just leave one in the safe in the car.

I just didn't carry until I retired. I had to drive onto a government site to work. Both vehicles and persons were subject to search too so keeping anything in my car/truck was out of the question. I carried a knife with a three inch blade. Even today if I must stop by the Post office I forgo carry since even the PO parking lot is a no firearm zone. Ironically, I have shipped a rifle thru the US mail, and yes it's legal.

There are small gun safes that can be bolted or locked into a vehicle. I just use a locking center consul or the glovebox. I am also careful to not do the transfer from pocket to vehicle where it cn be see. When heading for a medical facility where I cannot carry, I secure my pistol before leaving home.
