Taking some time off work next month. Wife and I want to do something together.

I'm thinking an all inclusive to Cabo or Cancun or something. I can do that for under $2,000 for both of us, including flights.

Any other ideas? Or sites where I can find good deals on trips and stuff?

Ever done a cruise? I think most people who don't think they'd enjoy them end up surprised once they do it... Not a personal fan of the resorts... I don't care to just sit around and i really don't like being surrounded by horrendous poverty when I'm indulging I'm frivolous living...

Took a cruise of Alaskan Inner Passage a few years back...great trip, will remember it forever, really good time

My parents do one at least twice a year... Alaska is their favorite, but they just booked one to Japan for next year... Guessing that will be their new favorite... Personally,I've always wanted to do the Panama canal, but the wife wants Hawaii... So we'll be doing Hawaii...

Norwegian is making it pretty easy.. free drinks, free excursions, $500 on board credit plus $400 airline credit.. plus some other stuff... It's tempting... 🤔

Princess has cigar lounges on a couple ships... Holland America used to do cigars under the stars... not sure if that still goes on...

Old people cruise lines... There are cigar bars on Norwegian too... 😟

The new ship with the go-cart track would be fun...

We went to Alaska a month ago, fantastic! It was also our first time on a cruise ship, we will be going again.

Holland America definitely has an older crowd... Princess, less so... personally, can't stand kids running up and down the halls all night and peeing in every pool they can find... I'll take the old people cruises anytime... they gots shuffleboard...

Carnival and Disney of course have tons of kids... I've Royal is family oriented also... 3 out of the 5 I've done was Norwegian.. I'll stick with them.. 😟

I've heard carnival is worse than Disney... don't know much about Norwegian... sounds pretty white...

I think royal Caribbean is the one famous for letting authorities in the Caribbean search cabins with dogs... they find pot, pull the passenger off the ship and hold them until it leaves so they have to buy a plane ticket home.... then they fine them a couple grand and release them....

We flew to Seattle, took an Amtrak ride to Victoria, BC, rode the subway to the harbor and boarded the Coral Princess, a Princess Line ship. We sailed to Ketchikan, Juno, Skagway and visited several glaciers on the way to Whittier (Anchorage). We took a bus ride to the Talkeetna lodge. There we took a fixed wing plane ride to the Ruth glacier. Then on to Denali Park, toured the park and then returned to Anchorage via the Alaska Railroad, one of the best things for me.

In Juno we took a helicopter ride to a glacier next to the Mendenhall glacier that we also visited via bus. I Juno we enjoyed a fantastic bucket of King crab legs at Tracy's in the harbor.

We flew home from Anchorage, the worst part of the trip, almost 24 hours of flying and airport hell.

I gotta agree...Norwegian seems to be the least formal and more laid back....they call it free style cruising...pretty laid back and enjoy yourself...we had a great time.....YMMV

We went with a group led by a local fellow, a retired EMS/Fireman with a knack for planning and leading relaxed and enjoyable trips. That said, our trip was quite similar to packages offered by all the large cruise lines. In each port we stoped there were ships from different lines and they all offer similar excursions and land travel/excursion/lodging packages.

I wouldn't call us foodies, but we much prefer good food over mediocre. The food on the ship was very good, though it is similar to what I call convention fare. Feeding a large number of people makes it impossible to compare to individual service. The buffet dining room fare was quite good as well.

The crab legs served on the ship were meh, but once you've had really good King Crab, it' too much trouble to eat anything else. The only other miss was cultural, they had "biscuits and gravy" however the gravy was plain white gravy without sausage or any other flavoring. The biscuits were quite good s well as other breads served. The buffet also feature various dishes native to the crew that were very good.

no.....I guess they have a formal dining option, but we ate great food but very casual...that was part of what sold me on it...I didn't really want all the formality

Princess had a couple of "Formal Night" suits and dresses minimum, but they did not refuse to seat couples that were not dressed that way. We just went to the Buffet dining area those nights.
