Still need to see the final decision.

I think it would be short sited to overturn this law without having something that could replace it. I would hate to see things like the pre-existing conditions and keeping kids on their parents plans to 26 years old go away overnight. 🌫

You can always rely on the SCOTUS to uphold what is unconstitutional, tyrannical and downright immoral.

How about replacing it with NOTHING?
When I was knee high to a grasshopper, healthcare was cheap, readily available and no dead bodies were laying rotting in the streets. There were charity hospitals to take care of the needy. I even remember our doctor came to the house while I was sick in bed. That was before the gubment got to workin to destroy all that was civilized.

RR you are predictable if nothing else. Where are there dead bodies laying rotting in the streets in the US? Same place as the proof of voter fraud? 🐴

I know many people that would've to have their pre-Obama care coverage back. Actual coverage, reasonable out of pocket expenses and affordable prices became a thing of the past after Obamacare.

The SCOTUS is there to interpret the constitulity of casein front of them, not the positive or negative outcome.

If the SCOTUS judged cases strictly on Constitutional grounds, which is what they are suppose to do, there is no way Obumercare would pass muster.

I'd like the premium rates from back then.

As to SCOTUS, the legal standard for review will probably be something like: compelling need and narrowly tailored means.

How about the federal government doesn't roll out a health care plan? If you are over 65, go get on Medicare. Poor? get on Medicaid. Otherwise, go buy a plan like we all did before the ACA debacle.

I don't have a problem with the Feds telling insurance companies that they cannot deny or upcharge for pre-existing conditions, but there is no reason at all that my plan needs to cover gynecological visits and mental health care. I need neither, but have to pay for them.

And yes, I was one of the millions who received a letter saying I had lost my private plan when the ACA was enacted.

I think even the GOP has realized that Americans want access to low cost health insurance...better than the high cost, low benefits junk plans that were peddled by health insurance companies before Obamacare.

It is unlikely that we'll return to the days when private health insurance companies motivated by profit dictated what people got, pricing the vast majority of average Americans out of the health insurance market. The problem was so severe and pervasive, that ERs became the default medical facilities for those without insurance, putting severe pressures on the system of health care providers, and eventually putting many private medical centers out of business, or at least out of the ER business. It required the government to step in to try to fix the problem...

Ideally, there would be a subsidized basic health care system for all, and a higher tiered private health insurance level for those who want it and are able to pay for it. Otherwise, we'll return to the ER system of medical coverage for those who can't afford health insurance.

Note, there are non-profit medical care providers and health insurance providers who say their models can compete with for-profit private companies: Blue Cross, Blue Shield, Kaiser Permanente are the biggest national systems...most states have their own, independent non-profit health providers

I have been told it costs many of us more to pay for uninsured Americans to use the ER for things most would have handled by their primary care physicians...so I'm wondering if that cost is even greater than our shared cost of coverage for those without insurance has been.

I may be just one data point, but I had better, cheaper coverage (and deductibles) prior to ACA with a plan from BCBS. My ACA plan had higher premiums, lower coverages and higher deductibles. So there.

None of it is insurance at all, properly understood. What kind of insurance has government mandates? Insurance is supposed to be a contract between the insurer and the customer, providing services tailored to the customer desires at a price they could afford. So Obumercare is nowhere near a competitive free market, it's a centrally planned market by politicians and bureaucrats, so the price system doesn't function. If its not socialism, it's corporatism. It's not charity for the needy, it's a forced wealth transfer to make dependents out of proles to buy votes.
All the promises about lowering the cost of healthcare was a lie. It was never supposed to work anyway, it was meant to overrun the healthcare system and create more crisis so the peoples would be begging the gubment for relief. The ultimate goal has always been to institute full single payer commiecare.

There were some articles written in the 1960's by the then President of the AMA, when the AMA was against government interventions into healthcare market and any more politicized medicine, when they were concerned about the doctor to patient relationship. They were against Medicare and Medicaid. I'll have to see if I can dig them up on one of my old computers, they are very hard to find on the Internet. They are very interesting as the goal was the same, The Medicare legislation was written by Wilbur J. Cohen, a Democrat, a socialist and a life long bureaucrat, the plan was to overrun the healthcare system as a prelude to instituting a universal government run healthcare system. Government legislation rarely work exactly as planned, but he wrote about the early days of Medicare, it was a giant money grab, hospital beds were be filled up to capacity not because the patients needed to be there, just because the government was handing out free money to fill the beds.
