as many know, our daughter is getting married at Ernie's hut in Key West in a few months.

Future son-in-law smokes but doesn't know the difference between a Cuban and a Tiparillo, but he asked me what I thought we should do for about 10 guys.

I told him I could get some real CC's but you know what happens, couple draws and then they get tossed, totally wasted, and no real significance nor connection to the event or in this case, the venue.

And then I thought it would be kinda cool to show up with a box of AF Hemingways...see what I did there? HA!

For various reasons, I'm thinking either Best Seller or Signature, strongly leaning toward Signature.

Checked a few sites, many out of Maduros, which I prefer, but maybe Cameroons would be better for a bunch of 30somethings at a wedding on the edge of the USA.

I can get maddies now from one or two places.

Any thoughts on the vitola and wrapper?

You can get Best Seller or Signature Maduro at the Tampa place. I buy from them pretty regularly and will PM you a link. You can save a couple dollars going with Best Seller MD and its a fun shaped cigar. I'd go with the Best Seller Maduro.

+1 on the Best Seller Maduro.
Not too big, not too small, not too strong, great burn and flavor, and a relatively short smoke time.

Maduro won’t turn sour like a Cameroon can that’s smoked too fast….

Sungrowns would be best though IMO.

be prepared to agonize and mourn softly to yourself, Frank. I bought a box of Fuente Hemingway Signatures and a box of My Father No.1 for my son's wedding. There were only a few guests who truly appreciated those choices. Most of the guests who grabbed a smoke chose the Hemingway Signature, I'm guessing due to its lighter color (lighter = milder?). Those who lit their cigars took only a few puffs and tossed them. About half of the cigars ended in this manner. Many were pocketed unlit as a keepsake.

OTOH...cigar smoking seems more common today than 10 years ago. Carry on...

Yikes! [gonzo]

Based upon that, buying a box of Gurkhas with really fancy bands and a few Hemingways might suffice? 🤔

Or mebbe Man O’ War ‘cause some of their lines have some pretty cool bands too.

Agree most are going to take a cigar AS IT'S FREE,light it up take a few puffs and trash it. Better off going to the gas station or convinent store pick up some nice El Producto ceegars and hand them out.:-k

wedding will only have about 60 people, due to it being an expensive destination wedding and all. Future SIL says just me, him, and maybe 8 others will be smoking. Max waste will be a half box or less.

I've been around long enough to know what happens at weddings, as i mentioned third line of OP...so frank the Cubans!

Personally, when it comes to AF cigars, I really like the sungrowns, (especially the rosado sg but they aren't in the discussion now) . And since I'm limiting this to Hemingways for obvious reasons, I prefer maddies in that line up as I agree with Jamie et al...well obviously the sungrown Hemmis but don't need to work that hard.

I no longer collect/age cigars so iff'n I buy a box for this it won't go to waste. I'll smoke a few over the next several days after the wedding on Key West and take the rest home. Five years ago I had over 500 smokes from which to choose, the majority being Cubans. But life changed and so did I.

Believing that non-afficianados assume tripod sized cigars are super cool, I initially thought Signatures might wow them more than short stubbies, but over the years I have typically smoked short stories so started to think maybe Best Sellers might be the way to go, again totally agreeing with comments above. And if I can hold their ADD afflicted attention spans for a moment I might even be able to explain the interesting stuff about the cigar shapes and stuff.

or not.

But ain't it kinda cool to have a very fine smoke to offer at a venue where both honor Ernest Hemingway?

Whatever you decide, Mazel Tov Frank! Also, very cool spot for a destination wedding.

Frank I texted a link to your phone. It checks all the boxes. You’re welcome.

As a destination wedding maybe you could set a prearranged time where your SIL and his friends sit down for a herf? A time where you all can sit and chill and have some real conversation over a cigar....or no cigar.

General offerings as a wedding favor or whatever are fine as well, but if it's at the actual reception, an hour or more of cigar time would be hard with all that will be going on.

Congratulations!

Congratulations on the happy event! If it was me, and it won’t be for a few years, but if it was I would agree with Palama. Some nicer Gurkhas and Macanudos. Nothing too strong unless you know of some people who would definitely appreciate the strong stuff.
I certainly wouldn’t spend a ton of dough on what will likely be lit, puffed a few times, and then tossed.
Either way it will be a great day!!

it's definitely going to be Hemingways and I believe the future sil gets the point...that's why he is selecting 8 guys rather than asking for everyone in attendance to get a cigar!
Wedding i son a Sunday, wife and I are arriving Thursday and departing the following Thursday so plenty of time to set up a nice herf and drink evening.

Guys you’re missing the point. The wedding is at a place called “Hemingway’s”. Gurkha, Macanudo and other assorted crappy smokes don’t fit the theme.
