I am talking about things like Hygrometers, Otter Boxes and humidors. I can see the 5-pack thing making sense, in fact I bid multiples on those.

My beef is with the jokers that bid on entire lots of items that would be hard to imagine a single individual needing that many of.

Either this guys is a retailer with a VERY poor sense of judgement(since this bidder has yet to win any auctions I have been following), some sorry dweeb that thinks this technique will actually land him a lower than normal wining bid, or a CB SPY! ;o) I will go with the DWEEB accessment in this case.

That would be unethical Davey. Maybe its Gonz. They give him a few smokes to make his pick of the month from and now he wants all of the cigars!
I bet its dealers and auctioners. That guy from Irvine CA spends a ton of money here. As long as they stay away from my El Gozos I will be happy.
Sorry Goose, the deals are here.

No Rick, it wasn't you I was referring to. I'm sure that the regulars here are all wise enough to bid with a little common sense.

I did raise the possibility of a PLANT from CB sent out to equailize the auctions, but as was said, that would be highly unethical and unprofessional of them, so I seriously doubt that is whats going on.

We are seeing the effects of very unsubtle retailers and EBAY thieves at work here, and the occasional DOPE who thinks he has found a sure fire way to get himself a deal!

I have about reached my limit of cigars for the next 30-60 days, (I have purchased over 150 cigars from CB in the last 2 weeks!) so I won't be bidding much for awhile, but I mainly wanted to alert the rest of you guys to this GROWING practice and to see if it pissed you off as much as it does me.

Perhaps you won't really care until it happens on one of your favorite products a couple of times in a row! ;o)

Goldengoose would you like some cheese to go with your whine?

..well it ain't me. I did bid and win a multiple lot one-of-a-kind sampler a while back because I wanted more than one one-of-a-kind cigar to "sample". But this has been a lively thread. Thieves, clowns, fuggers, scammers, scallywags. Either somebody's got the thersarus out or this market is getting to be a really tough place.

"Goldengoose would you like some cheese to go with your whine? "

Hey Plabonte!

I truly hope you are the next person to encounter the practice on a item you need to buy for a date sensitive gift, forcing your auto-bid to its MAX because of one of these jerk offs!! You're initials don't happen to be AM are they? ;o)

No my initials would happen to be PL as in P Labonte. Its an auction. People have a right to bid what they want on as many items as they want. I get upset when I get outbid here or on e-bay or whereever. But that is the nature of an auction. Sometimes you get a good deal, sometimes you get the shaft. What this other person is doing is perfectly legit on this site. Whining about it is like someone whining that someone else is smoking a cigar in the smoking section of a restaurant and they just don't like it.

A couple of thoughts about the example cited above ... I like the Punch Rare Corojo and in fact, had one just last night ... I DON'T understand is why someone would bid so high for so many? I mean even here in CA, I can buy that particular cigar on a one at a time basis in a local store for very little more than the most recent bid + s/h ... finally, while it sometimes irritates me to have someone else grab all or most of a particular lot that I've bid on part of, doing so is perfectly legitimate. I don't bid that way myself, but if for some presently unseen reason I chose to do so, it would (and should) be my prerogative.

The bid on lot #63133 is what keeps this site going. If
the bidder knew what is what he would know that a 5 pack sells for $18 on the home site.

They list the Punch Rare Corojo Rothchild in the new flyer for $15 a 5 pack so the pita is not much more.
